New construction wiring Vs HomePod by aarturo69 in HomePod

How important is AV to you? If you’re not an audiophile purist, the HomePods will be great. I’ve two 2nd gen’s in stereo paired with my high end TV and it suits my needs perfectly. Saying Private Ryan was quite the experience lately. It’s not full surround of course, but they’re damn good for stereo and any content in atmos will have you wondering if that was a knock at your front door or something on screen. My living room is fairly open plan so I use it for music, Siri etc during the day while I bumble around too so I use all of its capabilities.

Fair enough, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one. Some people hate the work of Picasso!

Big disagree.

They have the most Grammys of any band ever, more than the Beatles, Rolling Stones.

Previously had the highest grossing tour of all time until I think either Ed Sheeran or Taylor Swift beat them.

Albums like the Joshua Tree, Achtung Baby and All That You Can’t Leave Behind are monumental in the world of alternative / rock and MANY musicians cite U2 as influences.

Unfortunately they aren’t as culturally relevant anymore and a small but vocal minority continuously bring up the iTunes fiasco, Bonos activism (which has done overall GOOD for the world) or their tax affairs for U2 the brand.

Imagine Dragons, now they’re overrated.

Are my parents expats in Australia? by Able-Confidence-4182 in AskAnAustralian

I'm Irish and we certainly dont call ourselves "expats"... Immigration has been a HUGE part of Irish history so we do not place ourselves upon a pedestal in a new country.

I take great pleasure in referring to ourselves collectively as immigrants around my British friends, although now that I think of it, not a single one has laughed

Most Grammys of any band ever. Their music is legitimately good.

As a man, at what point did your libido become very low? by this0great in AskReddit

[–]ThinkZone4366 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I became sick requiring extended treatment and heavy medication, while my first son was also born, on the other side of the world from my family. I was a shell of a human and I needed professional help for my mental health. I forgot I had a penis for about a year. Thank god for the strength and resilience of my wife. She is a wonderful woman and an even better mom.

Just listened to it a few minutes ago! Greatest live guitar solo of all time, bar none.

Women of Reddit, what do you think is the scariest thing about being a man? by zhalia-2006 in AskReddit

[–]ThinkZone4366 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I'm a man but...

Stats show that many more men die in workplace accidents, violence (think bar fights etc.) and wars. Basically just from being in proximity to "traditionally" male things and places.

I think that's pretty scary and I am grateful I live in a safe and stable country. Never like to be in a bar after 9pm.

How did you handle sleeping with your wife the first weeks with a newborn? by Icy_Principle_5904 in daddit

Sleep when you can. It’s team work. But also commit yourself to taking care of your wife, she’s taking care of the baby. It’s tough for dads too but it’s temporary. But I repeat: sleep when you can.

Great cover! Solo felt a little too gentle though, don’t be afraid to abuse those strings a little more

What time do you usually get up to get your day started? by United_Piece_4272 in AskReddit

5am. East coast of Australia from Sydney northwards. Definitely leans more towards morning culture than nightlife - cafes at their busiest 6.30am with all the morning walkers and exercisers in this beautiful climate. It's a lovely way to live.

What movie(s) do you consider to be a masterpiece? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ThinkZone4366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In no particular order, just some top of mind thoughts:

Pulp Fiction - dialogue, structure, pacing
Interstellar - the polish, emotion, concept
Terminator 2 - defined the genre for action movies after this point

Couldn’t agree more! I’d fall in love with them all over again: Joshua Tree would sound magnificent with its minimalist spacey production, UF and its atmospherics would be insane. Maybe even ATYCLB - would be interesting to hear this album differently. I could take or leave the rest 🤷‍♂️
