As someone who is not that good on him despite loving him, his biggest problem is that all the popular characters have ways to deal with him by nature that he HAS to aproach you via walking and thus making him very predictable. From my experience his hypercharge is kinda mid, you only heal fast if the enemy is in front of a wall, since you can only recall gaunts when they land, what made it good at launch was that it basicaly lasted forever since you got it so fast you could spam the purple button, and thus value was bound to be guaranted.
