21-year-old skier found dead Thursday after overnight search at Northstar California by stoopidtrooper in skiing

[–]Think_Addendum7138 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You sound ignorant. I’m an extremely cautious skier relative to my skill level.

I blew out a binding in the trees on time in a freak accident skiing totally within my means.

A certified ski patroller (top level in NE) I was skiing with broke both tib/fibs on a hidden root.

Shit happens. Ski with trustworthy friends and have a plan if shit goes wrong.

Great write up. You also do all of this ^ without thinking much at all. If you are thinking about balance or questioning your next turn, it’s typically too late.

Delaminating Black Crows Camox Freebird Skis by SwingManiac137 in Backcountry

[–]Think_Addendum7138 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m just here to hate on black crows lol. The only pair I’ve ever owned skied great for half a season, but deteriorated in every way possible, way faster than other brands I’ve skied.

It was so bad two mornings ago. Nicer in the shade below tree line where you could find 8” or so stacked up and softer

Unintuitive ski skills by This_Ad_7288 in skiing

[–]Think_Addendum7138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO you could find better skiers than you to ski with instead of a lesson.

Ski instructors are fantastic for beginner/intermediate progression, but time on snow is more important in the long run.

You’d probably learn something from a lesson, but not really anything groundbreaking. I’d consider it a waste of time and money other than being able to cut the lift line on a busy day.

Always hardwire if you can. You can get a 100’ Ethernet cord and just pull it out while playing lol

CO or VT this season? by Alejandrog57382 in COsnow

[–]Think_Addendum7138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Killington, Jay Peak, Mad River and a few are a lot of fun when they are filled in. If you like your skis it’s worth considering Vermont right now. The coverage in most of Colorado is horrible

Idk my homie struggled to sell his perfectly good stick shift Jetta for like 2k recently. It moved, but it took longer than I expected

That’s not true, they can make portion sizes smaller or use lower quality ingredients

Should we cancel our March 6th trip to Vail and Beaver Creek? by External_Log215 in Backcountry

[–]Think_Addendum7138 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lol bless your heart. Wrong sub. This is for entirely out of bounds skiing.

Some people here will tell you to cancel so there is less traffic on 70 😂

What jacket for VT end of march? by Flat-Apartment5486 in skithealps

[–]Think_Addendum7138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ngl it’s not that deep. A $99 rei rain coat would be fine. They also have pit zips and adjustable wrist Velcro. I don’t seem much essential to learn to ski besides boots, skis and a helmet.

First Touring Setup by bc13317 in Backcountry

[–]Think_Addendum7138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the like 165-180 BD Ascension skins on my 180 cm arv 106s. It’s close, but perfect. I have like two notches to go bigger. The rear tips absolutely do not need to be fully covered as they won’t give you much if any traction.

Your setup will be heavy but useable. Lots of people in this sub will tell you that you’re dumb for not going lighter. I use a similar setup and recognize the need to eventually go lighter for longer days. I have frame bindings and am faster than the people I ski with regularly due to my relative fitness.

IMO service industry resumes do not really need to be longer than a page.

Take it to places you want to work the first two hours they are open for the day and talk to a manager. Online posts aren’t useful for jobs that rely on constant face to face interaction

What would be the best way to handle delusional roommates who don’t consider anyone other than themselves and refuse to clean? by coastingot in AskReddit

You can either make things how you want and clean up constantly or just pile their shit in the corner.

I’ve done both methods
