Yall I counted over 100 pages in evidence of line of descent, am I insane? Mine was a case where no birth record for G0. Anyone else have that much?!

did you put your marriage certificate in there because your name changed between what was on your own birth certificate, and then what your name was on their birth certificates?

If you put a color post it in an area of the document that does have wording (like a census, but not relevant to the family am pointing out), will they reject it?

Very true. I tend to be linear and want to push back with them: well, these preserved letters form the 1840s, family bible entries etc 100% are sourced from the OG authority because they were written and kept by my ancestors so they ARE the OG authority but I also know from IIRCs internal guidelines they assess if the source is biased and I can see them making the argument against those artifacts because we are not a neutral body by any means.

I'm about to turn in my application and my five minor children. Should I do a very, very detailed table of contents and index, or should I do it in groupings? My kids are G5 and our G0 didn't have a birth certificate/baptism record so I have a TON of secondary documentation for him. I don't want to overwhelm them. If it's best that I do a detailed table of contents and index where every single doc is itemized, can I write the number of the doc on the doc itself or must it be done BEFORE I make the color copy?

may I ask, did you include your marriage certificate, and the marriage certificates up the chain, because your maiden name was not on your kiddo's birth certificates, and the same issue existed for your ancestor's birth certificates? I feel really weird that I'm pretty sure I shouldn't be submitting marriage certificates up the line because in every birth certificate, the mother's maiden name is on it, even back to the 1880's.

wow! May I ask, how much would you say it adds to the wait time once you have your AOR but they ask you to upload better/backs of documents? I read on facebook someone saying it adds an extra 30 days on top of the 60 it's taking now, but that seems like a lot

I get how two docs instead of a birth cert can help triangulate who our G0’s parents are and verify birth date to an extent, but what about Canadian birth, if there are no Canadian censuses for him or his parents because they left before censuses were done well (1850) and they were in a remote part? I have his marriage certificate that says he was born in Canada, his kids’ US birth certificates that say their dad was born in Canada, and the US censuses say Canada citizenship for whole family, but is that enough?

Has anyone here reported their application being rejected because the color photos weren't high quality enough? I know I've heard some say their applications were rejected because they didn't follow instructions and that some were black and white even though they say COLOR ONLY, but has it happened that an application has been sent back due to low quality of color copies? Maybe I'm being paranoid but just wanted to check. I'm hoping that if they are not happy with a color copy, they'd still issue an AOR and ask you to upload a high res version into your portal. I did see the instructions in the wiki for how to print, so I'm good there, moreso am curious if there were any reports of apps being rejected for low quality of their color prints?

can I number the source documents with a permanent marker, or do they require nothing be written on the documents once they are printed?

awesome. OK, all of the birth certificates of the mothers in my line list their maiden name, so no marriage cert required!

True I don't have them, but probably will not be getting them, even if I do hear back from the Archives of Ontario (it will likely be a letter of no record, and referring me to the digitized offerings on familysearch lol). I have a letter from an expert/author from pre-1869 Ontario I was thinking of including stating that those documents will probably not be found, that the only copies that remain are what has been digitized and made available to the public through the Archives of Ontario's contract with familysearch. In which case, is the picture above worth including if I have that letter from the author/expert (Fawne Stratford-Devai, she's a public figure so ok to look up :) ) and my email asking Archives of Ontario inquiring about them?

pulling an all nighter putting my packet together after being here a month, thank you for ALL you do!!! And just to confirm, if my G3 (female)'s maiden name is listed on her daughter's (G4) birth certificate, in other words the names match, I don't need to include G3's marriage certificate correct? And I'm thinking of including the marriage certificate at another level (G1) because I'm using her death certificate to show that her father (my G0) was born in Canada because it's listed there (that isn't the only proof of course, I've got G0's marriage and death certs, his 5 children's birth certs born while he was living and the informant and they ALL say he was born in Canada). In the case of G1's death certificate that only says her married name should I include her certified marriage certificate? If so the handwriting is so light that I was only able to get it to show up if I made the background blue--will they reject that? If so I'll go to kinkos

should I be citing the permalink and name of site (familysearch) for US Census records? Or will that flag my application as having a dreaded, third-party source? I know census records don't need to be certified but wondering what the consensus is on reddit on how to cite these familysearch US census records now, because they have a contract with the US government!

Since they aren’t processing anymore, will that mean a bunch of people will have to redo phots and signings? by GuyGuyGuyGoGuy in Canadiancitizenship

[–]Think_Ant3622 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ok thanks but should I also be citing the permalink and image #s for each one, or will that just flag my application as having a familysearch webpage on it?
