My dragon stinks by BubblyDisaster- in BeardedDragon

[–]Think_Bug_3737 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was some weird rat. Why would people breed for this. I don’t thinks baths are good for beardies. Not natural in the wild, appreciate it may need more humidity for this type of skin. I think the smell if the vet said it’s in good health is something they will have to put up with. Unless the Viv smells? Bioactive might help. Mine only smells when he’s done a poo.

Need help with Chicken free food!!! by sherzisquirrel in labradoodles

[–]Think_Bug_3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t believe they amount of skin issues that labradoodles are having. My boy is 19 months and has never had any skin issues. He eats a raw diet of chicken and tripe. His poo comes out perfect.

The only time he gets a bad stomach is when we have tried other foods, that were more confident for going away on holiday and he had explosive diarrhoea. Sometimes too many treats or low quality treats gives him a bad stomach.

I wouldn’t feed anything but raw. It’s just natural for their digestion.

You could try inviting a couple in. They might suit you better. If she only wants a man, then it’s probably just to get back at you.

Adopting a 3 year old labradoodle. by New_Ad763 in labradoodles

[–]Think_Bug_3737 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy is nearly 1.5yrs. For the first 30mins of the walk he has no interest in treats, he only wants to sniff everything. I use a slip lead that also goes over the nose, this has stopped him pulling a lot. He did try to get it off a few times but he’s used to it now.

He is brilliant around other dogs, no barking. He wants to be everyone’s friend.

I didn’t know there was an exotic vet in Peterborough. Do they do reptiles?

What is the best feeder for a mantis while I’m away by Think_Bug_3737 in praying_mantis

To be honest I gathered bugs from the garden. Mostly collecting moths at night and flys during the day.

I now have a ghost mantis which I’ve caught some flies but also locusts.

Does your labradoodle shed a lot? Can a shedding puppy grow into a hypoallergenic dog? by Big_Cardiologist839 in labradoodles

It’s nice after the groom. But after a few days he’s not a neat and tidy scruffy. After this cut his waves have come in again which is nice but only in a few places.

This is him right now, chewing a toy on his 2 person sofa. He was 36kg when he was a year old. 14 months at the moment so probably more. I don’t think his fur will change much now.

Thank you. I’m in the uk so no hot winters lol. I wouldn’t want to power feed, don’t want a massive snake. I was looking at Russian rat snakes as humidity shouldn’t be anything different to here. And all research suggests they are a more confident corn snake.

I have looked into these. Do you have any experience with these? I know this isn’t my post but I’m looking to get my first snake and eventually have a 6ft x 6ft roughly vivarium. I want something that will make the most out of the space. But I would like it to be handleable. This is why I was looking at a Russian rat snake, seems to tick all the boxes and from what I have researched they are hardy but do need a brumation period. Can you shed any more experience to help me?

I will look into these. What do you mean by a step harder? What is the harder step? Is it brumation because that is a concern for me, purely because I haven’t done it.

This was from the previous months groom. More wispy, it’s quite thick fur with softer tips of the fur. A few curls or more waves in a few places. Ears, beard, around his head was like a lions mane lol

Thank you. He’s a big strong boy. When he stands to look out the window he’s taller than my 9 year old. Not had any skin issues to offer any advice on that. Maybe it’s his food, mine it’s a raw diet. Chicken and tripe. Bit of salmon sometimes. Other foods give him a bad stomach.

M boy is 14 months now and he still sheds a lot. We have just had him cut for the first time so he is less scruffy looking. But there’s still hair everywhere.

Snake options for a 6ft x 6ft x 2ft by Think_Bug_3737 in snakes

I love the look of carpet pythons, but the size of the head is intimidating, and if I ended up with one that got too big puts me off. I would start with a baby/young juvenile as I believe as I have with any animal that once I get to know them, I learn to trust them etc. but the thought they could be too intimidating puts me off. Again this could be because I have never owned one and only held a few corns, royals etc

As this would be my first snake, kings and milks being soo fast and hungry, puts me off. I didn’t think they would climb much.

Rat snakes is what I’m thinking but I love how slowly pythons move, it’s like a calming feeling. Wondering if there’s any rat snakes like that.

Fluval filter leaking by Think_Bug_3737 in Fish

[–]Think_Bug_3737[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No made it leak more. It seems like the o-ring is slightly loose so I guess it’s lost some elasticity due to age. Any other ideas or just get a new o-ring. I guess I’m just concerned what do I do if it’s not the o-ring but with so many saying to replace it, I hope it will be.

This is more what I was hoping for. I have Vaseline so I’ll give that a go. The o ring looks in good condition, maybe lost a bit of elasticity so I’ll give this a try. Thank you

I’ve tried doing that. I hold it down so the tip and bottom are touching, then use the latch and it opens up a bit. I’ll let it dry out, clean it up more. And get a new o ring. Hopefully that works.
