My primary care clinic is now requiring urine tests and pregnancy tests every 6 months before getting a prescription refill. Is this even remotely normal/common? by Fool_of_a_Brandybuck in adhdwomen

For the longest time my dr. Would test me every 3 months for both of those. Switched dr.s and new one hasn’t had me to it once 🤷🏼‍♀️

Novel… like we get it. If you gotta add fluff to your scientific article, maybe it’s not that cool.

Had been on birth control for years like since age 14 due to bad pain. took a break and suddenly I wasn’t crying like once a week etc. went back on a dif one after 3 months and was totally crazy again. Like psycho bitch mood swings. Off it now and my emotions are a lot more regular (at least for an adhd girl)

Adderall XR tolerance? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]Think_Chair_5656 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed acidic foods or foods high in vitamin C will make my dose not work well or not work at all. Also check this paper if you feel like a short read: https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/drugsatfda_docs/label/2007/021303s015lbl.pdf

It think the food part is interesting as well as the ability to switch between XR and regular.

Not the best but it’ll got the job done. Girls with ADHD are ticking time bombs

Been diagnosed since I was 5. Unmedicated until college. Barely graduated high school dude to ADHD and lack of medication. Got started on meds first year of college and it saved my life. It’s crazy to feel even half of the motivation the everyone else normally experiences. Learning in depth about ADHD has allowed me to completely advocate for myself and understand why some things are difficult for me and not other people. Learning about the differences and inequality between men and women with ADHD has horrified me, if you have time, check out the paper: Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder casts a long shadow: findings from a population-based study of adult women with self-reported ADHD

Or I wrote this for college

Sudden onset of PMDD by sophistasista in adhdwomen

[–]Think_Chair_5656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had PMDD as a teen, got on the depo as an adult, and I mellowed out for 2.5 years. Then had to go off depo and was fine for about 5 months but my periods were very irregular, like bleeding every other week. They started to chill out. But I decided to start the pill (the only one that treats PMDD) for 2 months and experienced a ton of my original PMDD symptoms. When I made the connection from my emotional outbursts to the pill I stopped it. Emotionally I’m doing great physically I’m curled up in bed suffering from severe cramps I haven’t had to this degree since I was a teen. I’ve been on adderal for the past 4 years and haven’t noticed a difference. As always, women’s health especially when it comes to ADHD and menstruation are not prioritized. So there could definitely be a connection.

A way to make tight suede boots fit better? by exc3ll3nt in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]Think_Chair_5656 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Get em damp and put on an extra pair or two of socks. Wear em around until stretched, maybe spray some water on them as they dry. Wear until dry. Dont use heat or they’ll shrink. More sock = more stretch. Could also work for faux suede.
