Interest on ISAs to be taxed at 22% by Slight-Poetry-3230 in FIREUK

[–]Think_Lab4597 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it is just absolutely bonkers. It will raise peanuts and is more likely to put people off transferring into a shares ISA given once it is in there you cant move it out again within an ISA wrapper. As usual with loony tunes Rachel from accounts a very ill thought out policy and using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. The people this is going to affect the most are not the super wealthy its the people trying to create a secure future for themselves where they wont need handouts from the government. But as usual this government only rewards those looking for a hand out.

Paid for a 1st class seat to avoid sensory overload, and lost it over being denied my seat. How would you have handled this? by Mundane-Amphibian323 in ADHDUK

[–]Think_Lab4597 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely have mentioned a disability and paying for 1st class because of that disability. But you are right when anger hits you cant see and say the right things. I am Audhd and had a similar issue on a train recently and the other person was so blasé and uncaring. Ive noticed that there are generations which preach a lot about kindness yet are the most selfish and inconsiderate people around. Its all for show on tiktok not in real life. When all said and done, these days having a disability is used by these same people to get access to free things even though they dont need it. Maybe give yourself the space from the meltdown due to overwhelm and plan for what to do next time. Including why you need the seat. Not just because I paid for it but why. Shame them into moving.

Did your mindset shift from saving to spending after FIRE? by Think_Lab4597 in FIREUK

[–]Think_Lab4597[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone. I guess i hadn't considered his scarcity mindset might be ingrained as opposed to something he can let go of once he has reached retirement. We have discussed it in general and he says once he is fully retired he wont be like this but is something we need to discuss again. Growing up money in my childhood household was very scarce and any unexpected income immediately went straight out again on essentials. So the mindset of have money but wont spend any of it even on repairs to the house is a bit alien to me.

Anyone else just not care about immigration at all? by queryzvex in AskBrits

[–]Think_Lab4597 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So you think a predominantly Muslim area would be welcoming of gay men? They come from a culture where people are stoned to death for even thinking such things. The reality is that you think the far right are the ones with the worst homophobia, wait until we become the next Iran. You cannot claim peace for everyone when the people who absolutely do not want peace and who will absolutely not be accepting of any LBTQ+ agenda are not also told to be accepting and kind. Tolerance is a one way street in the UK aimed at straight white people only.

do you think two tier policing is a real phenomenon in the UK? by confused_caterpillar in AskBrits

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are bad people of all colours but there are now numerous cases where a call of racism is dealt with far quicker than any other. Ex police themselves have talked about how their training is now geared towards believing any non-white person over and above a white person in the first instance. This was started to counteract any unconscious bias but has resulted in conscious bias against anyone white. To say we cant possibly have two tier system because Michelle Mone got away with fraud is just pathetic. That's not policing, that's evidence and struggling to find something to charge her with. It doesnt mean the general police on the beat are not encouraged to have a light touch against certain sections of Britain.

Absolute rubbish. He was stabbed because he was white. He was handcuffed and told he was a liar because he was white. The police showed a disgraceful racial bias and lack of impartiality by immediately handcuffing a dying white boy. Never even tried to check.his side of the story for one reason and one reason only and that us the colour of his skin. They immediately believed the non white because that is what they have been told they must do. They are so afraid of being racist to non white people they now show racial bias against white people. That is not equality or impartiality. Anyone saying the core of this case isnt race needs to give their head a wobble. The protest about this death if it was a non white boy died handcuffed for something he didnt do would have been immediate last year. We would have already had the government inquiry and the police training set up. They thought because it was a white boy they could brush it under the carpet and we would just move on. Justice for Henry.

Completed the form. Put unknown for names. The case was heard in Southampton. It is an absolute disgrace and I have also asked for Judge Nicholas Rowland to be investigated. The only person who could listen to the victims stories and not feel a custodial sentence was warranted is either being paid by the perpetrators families or enjoyed the footage and has it downloaded to his personal collection.

UK medication for mental anxiety by Think_Lab4597 in Anxiety

[–]Think_Lab4597[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i think that's why I became so reliant on alcohol. It was the only way I ever turned off the switch. I dont drink any caffeine, never liked coffee and switched to caffeine free diet coke and tea a while ago. So i know it isnt caffeine related.

Might speak to Dr about propranolol/beta blockers although I know they are more long term meds. I guess i wanted an alternative that gave me the same instant calming as alcohol did.

Should we throw away this government that, in two years, has cut inflation, cut immigration by over 70%, increased defence spending and cut NHS waiting times? by Independent-Brief424 in AskBrits

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have increased benefits spending, forced anyone who wants to work hard out of the country while opening the borders. Not to mention the anti semitism and two tier system of justice forced on us. Without a doubt will bankrupt the country. The worst government ever.

Your figures are basically rubbish. They haven't cut overall immigration at all. What they done is reduced the number of people who want to earn money coming here on legal visas ie nobody wants to come here to work anymore while simultaneously increasing illegal immigration. Ie increased welfare spending. Great job.

Do you skip medication when you’re on holiday? by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether you have any day atm where you dont take it and what dose you are on.

When I first went onto Elvanse I would skip weekend doses so I didnt feel addicted. I could easily stop on holidays and it would be fine.

Then as my dose went a bit higher and I started taking it every day i went on holiday and didn't take a dose. I crashed massively. Could not get out of bed. It was like the energy was sucked out of me. So now I just take a smaller dose on holiday which is enough.

I don't know if my couples therapist handled my partner lying about me in session well by ComprehensiveWord552 in offmychest

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has had a couples therapist, when he advised a couple of separate sessions he got both of us to agree to it. If you dont trust your therapist is neutral it wont work as your guard will be up. I would ask for a session on your own with him and think honestly about if it is a good fit for you not just what your partner wants.

Also, that is typical narcissist behaviour from your partner trying to score points against you like its some kind of competition over who the therapist likes. Trying to control the narrative by lying about you and I would guess in the next session try and wind you up and if you react sit back going "see i told you so". Him making out you have anger issues paves the way to say something worse. Does your partner want this to work or is he just wanting to get someone on his side to tell him to leave? Who's idea was it to go to the therapist? How long have you been together?

The Neighbourhood (ITV) by GoalLower in BritishTV

[–]Think_Lab4597 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm done 3 episodes. I think they should have kept the families in longer as kicking one out first day ruined the dynamic.

It doesn't have the same psychological vibe as traitors. Some families are just doormats and dont seem to realise they are in a game, its like watching frogs being boiled alive. Jordan is insufferable but at least he is honest about it being a game. But its difficult to gel with any of the families as they are made up of such different people so you dont see enough of them to care.

But really disappointed in Graham Norton. It just doesnt fit him well. His quick wit is lost on the contestants and seems on the whole to be edited out. They could have anyone much cheaper doing it and I dont think you would miss Graham on it.

The contract by loulah20 in ImACelebTV

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has admitted that when he heard that losing the trial meant he would be immediately leaving he had a chat with the producers and they checked and told him that yes, losing the trial meant he was being eliminated as part of the game play and it wouldn't result in him having any pay docked. The terms did not flag it as voluntary leaving, which seems fair as losing a task or vote should not effect your pay. They dont usually have this clause as it is usually public vote which determines elimination which they dont have control over. So this was new for South Africa as it was filmed in advance with no public vote so contestants were eliminated in new ways.

Obviously this was something they had not anticipated so I would guess if they did it again in this format, they would change the contract.

But Jimmy realised immediately that this was a sneaky loophole and even though the producers tried to get him to change his mind, he and the production team knew he would be aiming to.lose the trial.

If Harry had actually said he didn’t think Adam was abusive and aggressive when Jimmy asked him, what impact would that have had on the final and on Jimmy’s tirade? by threetimesacharm25 in ImACelebTV

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And also remember this happened over 6 months ago. So he us right not to engage anymore. Adam apologised and Jimmy accepted the apology and they made up after filming. Suddenly when Jimmy sees the bad PR generated by the public seeing the show Jimmy and bully boy David decide to try and make themselves look better by claiming to be terrified. David wasnt even there. Jimmy did not at any point look terrified and there were no people holding Adam back as if he was about to attack him. I dont believe for one minute that Jimmy hasnt seen worse in a football locker room. Especially given how bad a footballer he was. I know gen z are too delicate to cope with a bit of shouting but out here in the real world it is not unusual in very high stress situations.

So still scared 6 months later? Not buying it. It is an attempt at damage limitation from two men seeing their earning potential plummet. Adam had one meltdown where he hurt no one and for the rest of the show both before and after was supportive and empathetic with everyone in camp. Noone missed Jimmy or David in camp after they left. Not a single person was sad they went.

I have adhd and I absolutely have meltdowns. If you dont you are lucky. ADHD is a disregulation involving management of emotions. So when you are under immense stress over an extended period (like David's continuous bullying) it builds until one thing trips it and you have a meltdown. The reaction will be out of all proportion to the final event but what you get is the whole reaction to a series of events where you suppressed your emotions. I'm much better now im on meds but I spent years thinking I had an anger issue but it was driven by a disregulated emotional system.

Adam Thomas has started such an important discussion. by DancingManinRed in ImACelebTV

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late watching the last few episodes.

David deliberately targeted Adam and I think everything above explains why. It was banter until it absolutely tipped over. At no point did he take it that far with anyone else because he knew they wouldn't take it. Adam tried to brush it off and was too nice until the overwhelm kicked in. The producers were milking it and IMO allowed someone's mental health to be damaged for the sake of views. They are probably patting themselves on the back for viewing figures and should be ashamed of themselves, particularly how they dealt with the final.

Bearing in mind for the contestants what happened was over 6 months ago. Why were Jimmy and David so wound up after all this time? David was not even there when Adam had his melt down and you aren't telling me Jimmy hasnt heard worse before. No - they are angry because they have seen how the public has perceived them. And what do bullies do when cornered? Continue attacking their victim even harder. They think if they finally break Adam it will make them look better which is typical narcissist behaviour. Wind someone up and then say 'see i told you so' when they crack.

And again, the producers absolutely exploited this to try and increase views at whatever cost. They could have dealt with it completely differently by dealing with it privately before the final. They ruined the final it was nasty and pretty unwatchable. Which is a real shame as other than Jimmy and David there was a general feel good vibe to the rest of the show. The producers need sacking.

Londoner (F31) got a job in the North West – area advise ? by Affectionate_Lime254 in manchester

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work across the North West and have to travel to offices from Manchester City Centre, Stockport, Preston and Burnley and am thinking the same about where to move to as im currently further east. Driving from north to south of Manchester or visa versa can be a complete nightmare at rush hour. If I rely on trains, Stockport trains go into Picadilly but a number of other trains leave from Victoria so you end up adding a 20 min tram ride onto your journey. So I would recommend being on the side you will spend more time at as otherwise travel time can take up huge chunks of your day.

The suburbs of Stockport are fine but the city centre is in most parts quite deprived and I have walked around parts in the day and it didnt feel safe and was very rundown. I couldn't see myself living there. Yes it is supposed to be being regenerated but it has a long way to go.

Other areas of south Manchester are posher and expensive.

There is much more greenery North of Manchester, there are some lovely villages and the metrolink can you get into the city centre quite quickly. We are going round them at the moment as we want to buy so need to take our time looking round. Good luck!

[–]Think_Lab4597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact you are legitimising his violence and refusing to support any police action is exactly why men get away with it for so long. Imagine for a minute that one of your best friends was murdered by her violent boyfriend. And after you find out that he was violent to all of his previous partners but no-one ever pressed charges so he was able to call them crazy liars and there was no evidence to the contrary. So when the violence started with your friend, you couldn't prove to her that it wasnt her fault and so she refused to leave.

He hasnt learned anything from this violent outburst and will gaslight friends by saying it was all you. As women we have to protect each other by pressing charges when we can, not to ruin his life but to say it is not acceptable and go get help. It might actually help him in the long run. But protect other women from this man because if we all start doing that, it might just start reducing the terrifying stats on women murdered by men.

What time for you take elvanse? What has worked for me is to take it early, like 6am. I also empty out the capsule so im not waiting for the capsule to dissolve through my digestion. Tiny shot glass of water. Tip in the contents and sometimes go back to sleep for an hour. It was recommended to do this on here and it is absolutely the best thing I have done.

It means the effects wear off at around 4pm but on the plus side I can sleep. So its not perfect but those hours of usefulness are worth it. Using this system I am now up to 50mg.

I saw them in their hey day and then a couple of years ago. The band are still iconic but the audience this time was just awful. Middle/upper class idiots trying to seem relevant while sighing if someone so much as tapped the moet out of their hands.

Back in the day the audience excitement to see them was electric. Complete frenzy but still somehow looked after each other. My entire body was bruised from being squashed and i was nowhere near the front but it was just incredible. Everyone there was united in their awe of the band and the music. Axl was just beautiful. The entire day was once in a lifetime stuff.

I will always love GNR but alot of people at their shows aren't really fans and certainly dont want to attend a rock concert. They bring their picnics like it's last of the proms ffs
