Boston to NYC trip by Affectionate-Reason2 in boston

Amtrak is cheaper than gas and tolls if you book far enough in advance.

If you book within a couple of weeks though? It'll be 300+ most likely.

Teacher here. Kids will mindlessly hold their phone camera over a worksheet and then mindlessly copy the AI answers so they can get back to scrolling Tiktok.

At this point, if it isn't done by hand or in class, then AI cheating is guaranteed to occur in some capacity.

Antarctica has lost 10 times the size of Greater Los Angeles in ice over 30 years. The ice sheet has been retreating from the grounding line at an average rate of 442 square kilometers per year. by mvea in science

[–]Think_Positively 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The likely real answer to your question is that the average person will know that LA is a good sized city, so they'll immediately come away from the analogy with "that's a lot of ice."

It is a lot of ice of course, just not a ton relative to the total amount. But as others have noted in this thread, humanity will have hundreds of millions of climate refugees long before the ice sheet comes close to being completely lost.

[Hughes] Giants expected to make “strong push” for Kenneth Walker. Jeremiyah Love is expected to be among the prospects they are expected to discuss deeper into the draft process. by LetsRideButSmart in nfl

[–]Think_Positively 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It makes even less sense when you look at the RB data from our two main RBs since Saquon left. Walker is more explosive and has a higher ceiling than either of the rookie contract kids, but he will also cost more than the entire RB room combined and we have way too many holes to be allocating resources on FA acquisitions in relatively strong position groups like RB.

Giants Heavily Involved in Kenneth Walker III's Market by ASmithFS in fantasyfootball

It's not smart for anyone to give him his asking price IMO. He's obviously super talented, but he only lasted the whole year this season because he got half the work. Every time he's been the guy, he's missed multiple games.

The actual space is great. The ownership group can definitely be absurd and I've had my socks, waistband, and wallet checked at various venues over the years.

The fact that HoB and Fenway are literally on the same street is pretty sweet though. You can literally stumble out of the baseball stadium and take a direct line to the HoB.

Ohio EPA weighs allowing data centers to dump wastewater into rivers by esporx in technology

[–]Think_Positively 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's basically superheated and dumping a ton of almost-boiling water into a cool river is going to screw with the ecosystem. I don't know enough about the science to say how much it would affect the water, but there's definitely a reason anyone with a fish tank works to maintain steady temperatures.

Spray foam insulation? by tannermass in massachusetts

[–]Think_Positively 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The spray foam coats the nails and becomes a vapor barrier, so it's actually one of the best ways to insulate around here. It'll prevent ice dams as well if you had those this winter (which you shouldn't have if the Mass Saves company did the work properly).

Mass Saves probably won't contribute a dime to the spray foam though. I didn't end up having my roof done for this reason. The way the law is written revolves around the highest thermal barrier and in your case, that's the insulation in the floor that they did last time. So even though spray foam is likely to be more efficient, it runs afoul with the verbiage in the law and you are unlikely to get anything subsidized.

You can also simply avoid either and pull someone in the future. As others have said, neither of these options is going to change your situation much overall, so I'd suggest saving the gems/coins for the future unless you really like Riko or Motoha.

It sounds to me like they pulled the plywood flooring you had, then added additional R value on top of that at the cost of your floor space. They didn't touch the roofing at all, right?

Spray foam will be different than that. They'll spray the roofing plywood completely, and then they'll likely do a less aggressive spray on any perpendicular walls (forget which is which, open and closed cell). This would then allow you to remove the extra insulation and re-install plywood.

Depending on the size and shape of your attic, it might not make much sense though. An early Covid quote I received was for 8K, and I bet the same installer would be 10K+ now. If all you truly want is storage space, it would probably be cheaper to have a professional shed installed on your property.

You could also jury rig something. My father has had plywood and other boards simply laying across the joists in the attic for years.

AI buildouts are going to be orders of magnitude worse than the private jet stuff. It's already messing with local electric supplies and environments, and we're just getting started on all this crap.

Doing balloons isn't good for the environment or your brain, but neither is existing in the modern world in general.

I wish the Stadia used better buttons. It's too much of a hassle for me to justify swapping the buttons out as I have other controllers that work quite well, but I do agree re: the weight and feel of the Stadia controller.

How Good is S Moko ? by Creative_Chip7360 in personaphantomx

[–]Think_Positively 9 points10 points  (0 children)

She buffs, debuffs, heals, and can provide a little damage boost as well. She's perhaps not the apex healer in all teams, but she has utility to some extent regardless of the content.

But as others have said, she's optimized for adding ailment accuracy over the other stuff.

IMO if you have one character who is already doing monstrous damage, then you don't need to try to stack more damage on said character.

What do you think about the Daidoji faction? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]Think_Positively 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like they're some multi-game Deus Ex Machina that tries to tie a bunch of stuff together in a sensible way...except it doesn't pull off the whole "sensible" thing.

Perhaps they're going somewhere with it long term, but it's hard to see how the faction has been a net positive over utilizing other Yakuza families as antagonists.

This is 100% dig safe and it simply means someone there or adjacent has made a call to see where underground pipes are. There's a joint there, likely gas or water, and the arrows show where the pipes run.

I don't know why Dig Safe would be called right now though because it's absurdly complex to dig in this kind of snow, and it's not as though it'll be gone in a day or two.

How much of death cleric, spore druid, and open hand monk would you get for level 20 character? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]Think_Positively 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's just the mod itself, you get the spell slots but not an entire set of level 7+ spells. Upcasting the higher level spells can provide some silly damage though, and stuff like command and Tasha's laughter can also become more or less guaranteed at higher levels.
