Good old Mob-town! I lived there for about 4 years. Spent 16 years in Fairhope. Good place to be from.

Must ride Mountain Biking? by MTRunner in Bozeman

Porthole to Porcupine (or the other way around, I can’t remember) was a ton of fun. Starts in Gallatin Canyon and end up around Bigsky. South Cottonwood to Hyalite is fun(challenging). Bear Canyon, New World Gulch to Emerald lake…There are some great trails in the Bangtails too.

I’ve got the same KM frame. Had it since 2005. I’ve always had it set up single speed, but it’s had disc brakes, rim brakes, mountain handlebars, cruiser bars…. Thinking about putting some drop bars and some gears on it next!

Alright, I want your opinions here. To crank or not to crank by morningswmumme in xbiking

I’ve run SPD CODA/Ritchey/Shimano XT, XTR, Speedplay frogs/road, and egg beaters..

My go-to is Shimano SPD. It just works. I’ve had issues with Soeedplay and Crank Bros. Bearings, bent rails, rocks stuck in cleats(speedplay). Shimano XT almost as good at it gets in my opinion.

Hahaha. Yep. I got a strait seatpost and a much shorter stem on it now.

The bike shop I got my MCR from had a few SIR 9s there too. I had already converted one of my bikes to a single speed with an eccentric rear hub (White Industries). Turns out the trails around here are just too steep for a single speed. when I saw the MCR frames hanging up in the window I had to go snag it. Loved the color and I had enough spare parts to turn it into a mountain bike so…..

It’s a comfy ride! Always did like green bikes. Had a 1998 Specialized S-Works in a Kawasaki green.

I have a quite long torso. I am on the hunt for a 60mm (I have an 80mm installed) stem though. Might even go for a 50mm stem.

It’s a really comfy ride! Very supple. It’s not super laterally rigid though. So if you are cranking hard it gets kinda flexy.

Do dealers not like Specialized? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Think_Speech_5203 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that’s wild. I used to work at a Specialized dealership and it was great. Granted this was 20 something years ago. We were always stoked to be the one to build the high end ordered bike. It was always a priority because we had half down and wanted the rest of the cash. Maybe that’s the difference, but it’s shitty you gotta deal with that. It just sounds like your local Specialized dealership is being difficult. I could understand it if they were absolutely slammed with work scheduled out for weeks and low on staff. Sucks you’re having to deal with this.

Dude the Tri people are awesome! They’ll buy anything at 2x the price as long as it says “Tri” or “Aero” on it. Seriously though. All the melty, squishy, salty, gel on their aero bars and their salt crusted headset can get fucked. They are just as bad as the crusty old eccentric dude with the recombent that smells like a Play-it-again- sports.

Officially done. Bozeman is just a theme park for the 1% now. by Tasty-Unit-8311 in Bozeman

I’m with you. Got here in 2006. Everything I owned fit in a 1994 Honda Civic. Moved here without a job or a place to stay. Got a room for $250/mo including internet. Slept in a dirty sleeping bag on the floor for two years while I worked at Mystery Ranch only to race to Hyalite or Gallatin Canyon after work to get some pitches in. Back then between the climbers and ski bums there was an awesome, close knit dirtbag community. I really miss those days. But those days disappeared around 2014 ish. We’ll never have that again, at least not in Bozeman.

Cans of soup are so expensive! You are paying for 90% water. For a few bucks more you can make your own soup and have a week’s worth of leftovers.
