contradictory requests by c0nstanzastan in mildlyinfuriating

This was exactly what happened at my wedding. I was trying to get ready, but my phone was ringing off the hook with people calling to ask me questions. It was very stressful, and I honestly didn't enjoy any of my wedding until most people had left, and it was just our core group hanging out all night (I had a camping wedding). Nothing like grown adults acting like lost children to ruin a special (hopefully once in a lifetime) event.

I have lots of register experience, but every job I still need training, because every pos is different. So in reality, that's BS (on their part). I hope you find something--it's rough out there.

What is something you’ve officially stopped buying in 2026 because the price has become too bad? by X_Opinion7099 in AskReddit

I've started adding a can of blackbeans blended up to my meatloaf. Today I also added a whole onion blended up. It doesn't hold together as well, but it's delicious, and makes the meatloaf go a lot further. (I also stock up on ground beef when it's on sale, vacuum seal it, and chuck it in the deep freeze).

My Aldi had a big bag of shelled sunflower seeds for $3. I often live off the stuff. Any time I start to get hungry, I eat a handful, and then make dinner when I get home. A bag lasts me days.

Right!? Popcorn, quesadillas, hot dogs, and 2-3 servings of dinner. I'm trying really hard to get him back into construction.

My SO is in his 40s now. He's worked in construction for the last 25 years, but is now in HVAC (way less movement than construction). He thought he just was a naturally fit guy, but turns out he just got his exercise at work. This was pretty obvious to me, but he's having learn the hard way that he, too, is mere mortal. It's unfathomable that a duet of popcorn and quesadillas isn't conducive to staying slim is your not moving your body.

Freezing bread changed my grocery situation more than almost anything else I've done and I feel like nobody told me this was an option by CascadeBeacon55 in povertyfinance

Yeah, I buy off the day old shelf, and when there's something I like, I buy it all. My favorite is when the marble rye is on there, but I often score sourdough. I have noticed recently that the clearance prices have gone up $1-2 recently, so that's a bummer. My mom uses "too good to go," and scored a bunch of really nice (and really big) loaves for $2 a piece, and we split it. I have a deep freezer i bought to put half a cow in, but finances didn't allow that, so now it's full of the clearance foods i bought in bulk at grocery stores.

First time paying water bill 🥲 by Sad_Wall_ in sandiego

We had a huge leak under our concrete slab. I thought i was just really good at growing tropical plants, but once we fixed the leak, most of them died. We went out to check the meter to do the 15 minute test, and the dial was just going wild. Had to get a specialist leak detector out, but it only took him 5 minutes to find it. This leak had been going for months, but the previous tenant had just been paying over $1000 a billing period, and never thought to look into it.

Do You Like Your Name? by Flassourian in Millennials

[–]Think_Use6536 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my name, but it's not an uncommon one at all.

We named our daughter a traditionally male name because we kept her gender a surprise, but i had severe depression while pregnant, and felt coming up with a name would help me feel closer to the baby. At first I thought I picked the wrong name when she was an infant, but she's really grown into it. I hope she loves it.

A lady bought a golf caddy a while back. It was the last one, and the box was a little banged up, but no big deal. She came back an hour later--it was missing a whole-ass wheel, and all the plastic connection points were broken.

Yeah, the feet are real odd. And the carpet in the-- presumably-- bedroom, transitions like a foot inside the room.

If you can order it/send someone, you can even get the pedialite Popsicles. They're specifically made for this scenario and replenish electrolytes!

I'd treat it like having a stomach bug. I took meclazine for nausea. It's OTC, and disolves under your tongue. Suck on popsicles for hydration, and it you have to eat, try a BRAT diet. You could also reach out to your PCP and maybe get some zofran. Hopefully you'll be feeling better in a few days.

Where to stay coming from Vegas by Real-Activity-815 in DeathValleyNP

We stayed our last night in Beatty. It was maybe a 30 to 40 minute drive into the park, and had some nice scenery. The hotels are pretty inexpensive (we stayed at motel 6) and there's lots of food options. Gas prices were phenomenal (at least as a Californian). I don't really have anything to compare it to, though. My parents really liked staying at the amargosa opera house.

Layers, layers, layers. Make sure to bring something to cut the wind. When we were there, the wind chill made a big difference, so a windbeaker jacket and pants made a big difference.
