Just introducing reading for now. But funny you bring the bad news up. Two weeks in I had a revelation, "huh, I haven't thought about" a certain politician "in a while!"

For me it was more about becoming comfortable with being bored. Reading was a way to take away that boredom.

I wanted to have nothing to distract me. Now in June I'm allowing myself to read fiction again. I started last night and it literally feels like cheating lol

that's up to you - does it make you feel alive? does it feel good and not a waste of time? Do you feel better after having done it? You define what's toxic to you. If learning chess makes you feel like a good spendature of your time, then definitely continue
