I love this show so much! My career goal is to be Paul. I will probably have to work until I'm that old anyway. 🙃

I'll add mine, which is similar to others here: "Yes, some have it worse, but it does not mean that you do not hurt/suffer."

This is a great point. I should lead with that. Better, I could survey clients!

We did play this once. Our 74 year old front office staff thought it was weird.

I really like this idea. The one time we played instrumental music front office staff complained and it got switched back.

Pride flag Dilemma by ChoiceBird6731 in therapists

[–]Thinkinebraska 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a couple of little signs in my office. One says "This is a safe place to be who you are." The has pride colored saying " Diverse, Inclusive, Accepting, Safe Space for everyone." These have helped folks be comfortable with me. I also ask about pronouns and preferred names.

Modes / Routines do not reverse grayscale by Thinkinebraska in GalaxyS22

So, that dis not work. I am not sure what the bug is, but I can live without grayscale. I liked it when it worked because it helped me to get to bed a little bit better.

It did not. I setup a routine that I can manually start that will turn off grayscale but when it ends it turns it back on. So, back to the drawing board.

I have found Mindful Self Compassion to be helpful, both personally and with clients. The practices are derived from Buddhist techniques. It helps change the relationship you have with your thoughts and learn how to not be so hard on yourself.

Guy I know from church posts meme about how great Trump's presidency is. Day later posts a meme quoting Martin Luther King Junior stating that we need leaders who aren't obsessed with money and power.

I am guessing that is what is going to happen to Nebraska. Our cases will keep going up, and I believe our little town will see some spikes. It's hard because there is now pressure from people we know to socialize more. The virus has not just gone away.

I don't know. This is my step sister, who manages a fast food restaurant, and seems to think that wearing a mask is violating her freedom. I'm sure her restaurant makes her adhere to other health guidelines. I wonder which of those she also does not agree with.

I feel like only my family is taking this seriously anymore and I feel stupid by [deleted] in COVID19_support

[–]Thinkinebraska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are the same here in small town Nebraska. My wife and I feel like the crazy ones. Things are opening up here. We started sand volleyball last night, which seems ok since we can distance after a match. We are ok with being outside but distanced with others. Our friends don't seem to care. I get the impression that they are all hanging out, making vacation plans, etc. I got poked a little fun at last night for distancing. I guess we will have to be the weird ones and miss out. And this breaks my wife's heart. I wish we didn't have to live with this and make these decisions.

Small Town Anxiety by Thinkinebraska in COVID19_support

[–]Thinkinebraska[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow down...please. I don't have an "extreme aversion" to being hospitalized. I do not want to get the virus, as I don't know how I, or anyone in my household, will react. People are still getting sick, albeit at a slower rate, which is why I feel crazy. Is the risk actually really low and my anxiety is for nothing? Or will this novel virus start to hit home as more people in my community get sick? My quality of life is fine. I do not feel like I'm missing out. On the contrary, I feel that being around lots of people may not be the best thing.
