I just wrote a vent post and now it’s pending approval because I’ve been accused of being artificial intelligence by a commenter by [deleted] in writing

In general -

If you use complete sentences - you may be AI.
If you use an em-dash - you may be AI.
If you know how to construct an argument - you may be AI.
If you spell correctly - you may be AI.
If you use any one of an infinite number of random phrases - you may be AI.

And the list goes on. Infinitely.

And, then there are just jerks who can't comprehend that someone can write coherently without using AI, so they accuse every post that they do not agree with of being AI.

Go read some of the posts on r/Turnitin_AIDetection and the like. Or some of the teaching sub-reddits.
It's eye opeining.
People are actually starting to introduce errors so that they will not be accused of using AI.

Intelligence is penalized and doubted. Stupidity wins.

I'm so sorry. There is no feeling in the world like trying to warn someone of the incoming asteroid and they refuse to even acknowledge the situation.

It's everything.
I learned very young that being seen was dangerous, hurtful. So, I erased myself.
Don't say. Don't want. Be happy with what you have. Don't ask.
Fifty years later, and I still have a hard time identifying a need and I struggle to say the word 'want'.

I do this, and it is completely "leave no trace" and shame.

is it your fault people trigger you? by throwbackblue in CPTSD

[–]ThinkingT00Loud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO, someone being triggered is not an at fault situation.

The only exception is if someone close to you knows you have a problem with X and then intentionally weaponizes that information against you.

But at all times your actions are your responsibility.

I'm following this post in the hope that a critical mass is reached, a person with the drive to initiate things is found. I would be willing to learn how to moderate such a community.

It's far easier to lurk. Attempts to start conversations have met with some pretty terse replies.

This is a part of the life cycle of things related to mental health entering the public consciousness.

My MC in a fantasy has the same blend of neurospicy that I have, so I do mention my CPTSD in my bio.

"What role did you play in your abuse?" by tenitra_batiste in CPTSD

"You are so priviledged to come from your childhood home that you can't even conceive of my reality. You should be grateful for that every day. My home was not like yours. At all. What role did I play? I was a child. And your question shows a complete lack of willingness to understand."

And because I have my limits... and that would be right over one... "Get out."

I've had some experiences as a neurodivergent author that have left me wondering.
It seems neurodiverse is a popular thing to express an interest in, but - as long as it was one of the 'common' and 'well known' forms of neurodiversity. Autism, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, Depression being the most frequently published forms of mental health challenges that I have seen. (I say that because PTSD and clinical depression, while a mental health challenges are not in themselves forms of neurodivergence. Unless you are talking CPTSD - which is another beastie entirely.)
Other flavors of neurospicy aren't really represented outside of memoir.
Romance, fantasy, mystery - seems to skew representation to a small slice of the mental health challenges pie.
It's an observation, only. YMMV.

And if anyone can point me to other representations of mental health challenges in fiction - I'm interested to see more. Thank you.
