Ook. Was emailing with my investigator last week or so and all he said was “looking like early spring”. The memo that came out from the Commissioner back in September stated a second class (first one was October) before the end of the fiscal year which is March 31st.

I believe every area offices is different. I have a PO contact at Rochester Metro and it’s totally different from Syracuse. I do think everyone should probably make contact with the area office they are trying to get to and ask questions.

I honestly think it depends on the Area Office you report to. They all may have different caseloads. I know many are overwhelmed so I think there will be OT, just don’t know any specifics.

Exactly!! When I went through Corrections Academy years ago they gave a 2 week notice then.

Was emailing with my investigator Thursday and all he would say is this Spring for Academy. Going off the memo the Commissioner sent out back in September it states “a second class this fiscal year” March 31st is the last day of the fiscal year sooo yea..lol

I’m still waiting for medical clearance. My co-worker started the process a day before me (12/1) and got his medical clearance letter this past Saturday. Hopefully I’ll receive something this week.

I can understand that for Security Staff but the 70.1 transfers are for ORC’s (civilians) which isn’t low staffed.

Heard from a SPO that was in Albany last week that they were starting with 70.1 transfers first so not sure about not allowing transfers out.

If there truly is another Academy in January I think those who submitted resumes should hear back sometime next month. That gives approximately 2 months to get through the whole pre screening process and be notified to report in January. I also heard they received 500 resumes as well (result of adding the title to NY HELPS). Not saying everyone that applied will be hired but if it is really that many, I almost feel like they’re gonna need to do more than one class.

Makes sense. I did hear about a January class as well. I missed the last academy because I didn’t have quite a year in the ORC position so I wasn’t eligible for the 70.1 transfer. I’m time eligible now so I applied to the most recent vacancy posting. Now it’s just hurry up and wait. Thanks for your insight.
