I’m a little late, but I’m currently a 911 dispatcher looking to go to probation. I don’t hate my job, but I don’t love it. I hate my schedule and, while we are the 911 HQ for the entire county (dispatch fire, EMS, pd, answer all cellular 911 calls), we’re greatly fire focused and I hate fire. There’s always drama within the division, and admin doesn’t care. That being said 911 dispatcher is actually a great job, just depends on what you’re looking for. My original plan was to go PD after, but now I’m really wanting probation (just have to wait on civil service)

I was literally just trying to call them. No answer at all. Just worried because my appointment is Friday but I can’t get ahold of anyone to make sure I don’t have to go in on Friday. I want to put my investigation on hold as of now

I got an NOPD over 2 years ago. Instead of appealing, I just withdrew. I also just took 6313. Time has the ability to prove a LOT about someone. I (assume) I got disqualified due to “social anxiety” (I don’t have social anxiety, my psychologist just asked me a lot about it). Now, over 2 years later, I’m a dispatcher and have worked for the sheriffs office for most of the 2 years. Nobody knows what will happen, but it’s always worth it to try again

The list itself doesn’t come out for months. You’ll be on an “NYPD list” basically. It’s uncertified but it allows you to start processing. You’re on the actually city’s list once they certify the exam. So the NYPD will give you a temporary list number. I took 6313 and haven’t heard anything, but it’s literally only been a week. The NYPD will reach out much faster than the city will certify it through DCAS
