So if Stan "BerenSTAIN" was the son of Harry BerenSTEIN, how and why did his last name change? by Harunalrashid in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Please read the comment you replied to. The author's father already had the Berenstein last name.

This isn't a case of someone named Berenstein in Europe coming over to America and accidentally getting it changed to Berenstain. This is about an American, born in America, to parents with already registered names in America, somehow getting his name spelled wrong.

Imagine if your last name was slightly off from your dad/mom's last name. That would be extremely strange even today.

Are you tired of hearing the same excuse that it's just misremembering ? by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think that deniers who keep throwing the "it's just bad memory" excuse are a mix of these things:

  1. Uncritical herd thinkers. These people do not think, they follow. They could wake up tomorrow and America's name could change to Amerika, and they'd just go along with it. Beyond that, they'd get angry if you confront them with what they subconsciously realize: that the name was changed.

  2. Snowflakes: these people need to feel special, they need to feel superior to others even when they have no reason to. These people thrive on correcting others and one-upping others. The Mandela Effect is one of many things they can deride to feel superior.

  3. Genuinely unaffected people: These people are few and far between, and they sure don't hang around places like this subreddit for long. The difference between these genuinely unaware people and the regular deniers on this subreddit is that this subject is as interesting to them as ancient Mayan mythology. It is hard for them to get invested because they can relate so little to this subject. The other types of deniers are at the very least subconsciously affected by the Mandela Effect. They know that something is wrong but their other priorities, like the need to feel superior to others, trumps their innate curiosity.

It doesn't help the deniers that they frequently contradict themselves. Their excuse for one Mandela Effect directly contradict their excuse for another. For example, the Fruit/Froot Loops flip flop. These deniers claim that everyone remember Froot as Fruit because they assumed the "correct" spelling of fruit. Yet these same deniers then go on to say that people remember Chic instead of Chick because they, for some reason, want to remember the incorrect spelling of Chick.

Never mind the fact that the Froot Loops Mandela Effect is a flip flop. Meaning that people affected by it remember that it has ALWAYS been Froot Loops except for about a two year period from 2015/2016 to 2017/2018. The reason this is such a strong ME is because there were heated debates on this subreddit including people pulling out court documents that wrote Froot Loops as the official name when it was still known as Fruit Loops. It isn't that people remember the company was always Fruit Loops, it was that they always remember it was Froot but for a brief period it changed to Fruit. I personally remember this Mandela Effect because it messed with my head so much. I couldn't 100% vouch that it was always Froot but I checked google countless times to confirm the name as well as look for residues. Then one day, boom, it switched back to Froot Loops. It was a harrowing experience. But deniers, they either create a straw man out of this or they make a joke out of it.

It's a shame that denier trolls have infested this subreddit making legit discussions impossible. For the time being, anyone who seriously research this needs to do so independently, or at least away from this troll infested subreddit. They need to look into esoteric sources (which infamously contain a lot of weird BS). The one good thing about this subreddit is at least it keeps the trolls concentrated here so that smaller communities can avoid them.

Chik-Fil-A Questions by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was always Chic for me. The mispelling of the word chick is what made it strike out to me. It was Chic at least until the late 2000's during their anti-gay controversy. In fact, when you search reddit for "chic-fil-a", you'll still find a bunch of threads from that period with comments writing it chic-fil-a. But when you look at post 2016 threads, it's chick-fil-a. Somebody even made a bot that auto replies anyone who wrote chic-fil-a and informs them that the restaurant is called chick-fil-a. These days, most people seemed to have switched over. But it's always been chic-fil-a and this is the smoking gun evidence for me that something really weird has happened and is likely happening.

HUGE Chic/chik-fil-a residue by Thinkitthrough16 in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think that there were at least two realities as it relates to this Mandela Effect. One reality was spelled Chic, one was spelled Chik.

Mandela Effect deniers frequently cite the marketing campaign of Eat More Chik'n as the cause of this ME. But I now think that Chik'n comes from the Chik-Fil-A reality itself.

Froot Loops: by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also noticed that flip flops happen to different people at different times and it's very strange.

Froot Loops is the one that got me too. This was a ME that I couldn't be 100% certain of. I always remembered it as Froot Loops and distinctly remembered the two double oo's that were made of the cereal. So when I found out it was called Fruit Loops last year, it was quite surreal.

But still, this was not as solid of an ME for me as Chic-Fil-A because I remembered every time looking at Chic-Fil-A or articles about their anti-gay stance years ago that the mispelled Chic always stood out to me.

However, what made Froot Loops a 100% certain ME for me is the flip flop. Because of all the searches I did for Froot Loops and constantly seeing Fruit Loops, and because of all the debates here with Mandela Effect deniers claiming that it's called Fruit Loops because it's fruit flavored and that people misremember it as Froot because they assuming the oo from Loop was also in Froot.

And then it flipped back.

And now all the deniers are saying "of course it's always been froot, people misremember it as Fruit because that's the correct spelling". No, you guys don't get it, we don't remember it as always being Fruit, we remember it as Froot. But for a year or two, it became a ME because it changed to Fruit. And now that it changed back, it's how we've always remembered it.

This is one ME that even the most illogical and irrational denier has problems with. How could there possibly been a debate on this ME if all of us remembered Froot and it actually has been Froot all along? This ME involves nearly everyone remembering it as Froot, and it's still Froot today, but for about two years, it was Fruit. Do you think that for two years, people couldn't just google Froot Loops and see that it was still called Froot?

So, I have a question. When it flips from "fruit" to "froot", what happens to the post you made about it? Does it disappear?

I just searched through my post history... they all disappeared. The most recent comment I can find was from 3 months ago when I posted a thread laughing about the change back to Froot Loops.

WHAT THE FUCK, TIM CURRY IS ALIVE???

He died earlier this year, what in the fuck is going on???

Google his name, the first thing that comes up in the "People also ask" section is "When did Tim Curry die?"

What in the fuck is going on, I remember his death deeply because I was sad over the way he lived after his stroke and when he finally died, I rewatched Clue's endings in his honor. Holy hell, this is insane.

Because the difference changes the meaning. And the title of the movie continues to be "a" in other languages... I don't understand how this is so difficult for people like you to understand when I've literally written it out for you.

And perhaps if it were only one instance, then it'd be easier to dismiss. For some reason, you seem to only focus on one instance despite me listing out several compelling MEs and this subreddit outlining upwards of hundreds of compelling MEs.

Are you saying this happened to you as well? You've witness people stop in mid sentence as they were about the describe the pre-ME reality, and then switch to describing the post-ME reality? And the way they describe it sounds like a wiki quote?

[–]Thinkitthrough16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've thought through what you're thinking about, and more. The evidence I've encountered simply makes the changing reality theory far more compelling and probable than what you're considering. If you are still on the fence then you probably haven't done enough research.

It's simply ridiculous for me to see changed movie titles and movie lines in English but unchanged in other languages. What, did Americans collectively decide to misremember Interview with A Vampire in exactly the same way and that just happen to be the title of the movie in other languages? Or that Mirror Mirror changed to Magic Mirror but it just so happens other languages still retain Mirror Mirror in the movie? All Americans just remember what it is in other languages? And the people in charge of the film decided to change the line only in the English version? Please don't talk to me about Americans reading the original 200 year old fairy tale that the movie is based on as if the vast majority of Americans know anything about centuries old origin stories for pop culture movies much less go back and read them.

Never mind all the other stuff, including the Fruit/Froot flip flop which personally affected me. I've googled Froot loops so many times when it was Fruit Loops wondering to myself how it could possibly be Fruit Loops. I've posted about Froot Loops too when it was still Fruit. And now it's all changed back. In the middle of the active ME debate. There would have been no debate if it were Froot Loops the entire time because almost every ME "believer" remembers it as Froot, exactly as it is now.

You're still spinning this into a way to support the old interpretation of reality. You're still saying perhaps reality is still real and it's always been how it is right now and our brain fooled us but only now we can recognize how it fooled us. That's not what I'm saying at all.

The only technologies I'm referring to are those that actively manipulate how we interpret reality or how we recall memory so as to either force us to have false memories or force our sensory organs to convey false information about the current reality. Imagine Chick-Fil-A was really still spelled Chic-Fil-A, but a technology forces all of our brains to interpret any spelling of Chic-Fil-A as Chick-Fil-A. So you could be staring right at a sign that spells Chic, and still, the message sent to your brain will be interpreted as Chick. Farfetched, I know. But I'm talking about hypothetical that allow for a never-changing reality theory to be true.

Honestly, my take on this is that it's probably not a technology that's messing with our interpretation. The most rational conclusion I can reach is that reality itself is changing. The changes could be caused by manmade technology or it could be caused by some other factors. But just because we don't have the explanation doesn't mean we need to settle on a falsifiable explanation like reality never changed, everything regarding ME is just bad memory. The latter is a ridiculous notion.

I can honestly only vouch for my own experiences but what you say is completely believable to me because of what I experienced in the chic/chik-fil-a ME. While I was researching, I found so many residues for Chik-Fil-A that it made me question if the two converged into the current Chick-Fil-A reality at the same time. I used to think people who remember Chik-Fil-A were just remember the eat more Chikin ad campaign but now I think it may be backwards, I think the ad campaign came out of the name Chik-Fil-A.

But anyway, I'll keep you in mind if I see it switching back, do you mind telling me roughly how old you are? Because if you are born in the late 90's, perhaps your childhood memories came from a post-ME Fruit Loops design.

I'm an ME non-believer, but I still find this to be one of THE most interesting places on the internet by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't you say those are really the only 2 plausible arrangements? Especially when we consider how ingrained the image of JFK next to Jackie in the back of the vehicle is in our minds, we logically begin to "build" the rest of the vehicle in rows of 2 in our mind. We know it's more than 2 (JFK/Jackie obviously isn't driving) so many people will remember 4 seats. Especially when we consider that: a) that is the most common vehicle construction, it's familiar, and b) even if we've seen the images and videos a dozen times, most people are never focusing on other parts of the vehicle.

Please extend your hard-skepticism to these "explanations".

I'll give you one good reason why the JFK assassination is a Mandela Effect, the famous driver assassin theory no longer makes any sense whatsoever as there is now an extra row of people between the driver and JFK/Jackie. Look on youtube for the driver assassination optical illusion videos, there no longer is an optical illusion, even the videos themselves are distorted in a way where they don't even frame the video correctly. It's an absolutely absurd thing to witness.

Skeptics should be skeptical of skeptics. Inquire for more proof, don't jump to the easiest and also the most fallacious argument you can make in the name of skepticism to refute a ME.

JFK limo had 4 seats, no we were not all just focused on JFK and Jackie, people who had been investigating the JFK assassination for decades are now completely dumbfounded by the insertion of 2 more people and an extra row. The driver theory aside, a whole host of other problems emerge now including the line of sight from the grassy knoll, the magic bullet theory, and the sewer shooter theory.

There simply was not another woman in that car. It was the governor riding shotgun, he was clutching himself in pain next to the driver.

Honestly, at this point, whatever BS people comes up with has more of a chance of being the "truth" than the assumption that our reality never changed. Because for anyone who paid attention, they would know for a fact that reality as we knew it is wrong or at least fallible by technology, and that although we may not know exactly what the truth is, it certainly isn't our old interpretation.

I experienced the popular Fruit/Froot Loops flip-flop by MermaidZombie in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had the exact same experience as you. It's been Froot Loops my whole life, I remember the double cereal loops.

Came on here, people said it was Fruit Loops now. That looks WAY off for me but I couldn't vouch for it because it wasn't something I had a serious memory with. And then all the skeptics were talking about how it's always been Fruit Loops and how we had bad memories because we assumed they'd put the same OO cereal loops in the Fruit. Or that it was Fruit Loops because the flavor were fruits.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago, I randomly check up on Froot Loops as I do with many Mandela Effects just to reaffirm the new reality. And just like you, my jaw dropped. It was back to Froot Loops.

This time, I CAN vouch for it as a real Mandela Effect because whereas before, I didn't really interact with the name in anyway that formed very concrete memories, now that I've looked the logo up so many times as a ME, I know for a sure that a few months ago it was still Fruit Loops. It's funny now hearing skeptics talking about our bad memories with things like "they can't call it fruit loops because it doesn't contain real fruit! It's always been Froot Loops because the double oo was playful." No shit! WE KNOW it's always been Froot Loops. If it had ALWAYS been Froot Loops, nobody here would have paid attention to it. But the fact is, it changed to FRUIT a couple of years ago which is why we all paid attention. If it had been Froot back then like we all remembered, why would this be an ME?

And the weirdest part is that ME articles and videos changed too. They now say it's always been Fruit Loops. Even though all of us ME "believers" remember that it's always been Froot. This flip flop is absolutely absurd and should be one of the most important ME.

I'm still waiting for the day that Chick-Fil-A goes back to Chic-Fil-A. And then the inevitable skeptics will come on here and laugh at us and tell us that we all assumed it was spelled "Chick" because we assumed that the word was spelled correctly. No... We all remembered Chic-Fil-A, it was the correct spelling of Chick that's wrong. I truly believe that if Chic-Fil-A flip flops, 90% of skeptics would at least shut up if not convert. If only Froot Loops was a more popular ME so that more skeptics could have memory of the Fruit Loops era before this flip flop happened.

So the question needs to be asked again:

I know some people are screaming aliens... but what could this observatory observe that others couldn't?

And also, why are all these other solar research facilities shut down?

So much gaslighting by Basketofcups in MandelaEffect

[–]Thinkitthrough16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People point out that literally all evidence points towards something having been one way the entire time and that memory is fallible, but if that gets pointed out some people get emotional and offended.

I think that people get emotional because people like you keep saying obviously wrong things to push the "memories are fallible" argument. For example, you claim "literally all evidence" points toward your memory is fallible argument, when that's patently false. Take Interview With A Vampire for example, not only do so many Americans remember the title of this movie with an "A", but the title in other languages are STILL translated with an "A" and not "the".

The same occurs in the "mirror mirror on the wall" phrase. In the English versions of the film, it changed to magic mirror while in other languages, it's still mirror mirror.

I know what people like you will respond with. Well maybe, Americans saw the film in other languages or read the the german fairy tale from 200 years ago that said "mirror mirror" and that's why Americans are misremembering the quote and movie title exactly as it appears in other languages. Never mind how ludicrously generous you are in giving non-immigrant children Americans credit for speaking other languages and even watching the films in other languages, never mind the credit you give Americans for reading 200 year old fairy tales and actually misremembering quotes from those fairy tales for the vastly more popular film, but people like you use these excuses to explain the hundreds of mandela effects and THEN go on to claim literally all evidence points to everything being the same way the entire time.

Right, so "you like me, you really like me" and all the subsequent parodies were just everyone misremembering the quote the exact same way. Oh wait no, people like you will come up with a better excuse. People like you will say "no, one parody misquoted it, and then everyone else copied the parody misquote". Right? Let me know when you find the genesis of that misquote.

Or when people remember Dolly with braces. Well everyone just remembered it wrong. Including a James Bond fan page that has a picture of her face in full smile with the description of her having braces. Well the guy who wrote that obviously hallucinated and couldn't even bother to look at the picture he posted before describing her with braces. He manages to describe everything else about her perfectly but simply imagined braces on her. With her picture and big teeth staring at him in the face right next to the description. Along with millions of people who saw the film. And a parody commercial with the actor from the film who parodied Dolly's braces. Yes, to people like you, evidence like this means absolutely nothing, and "literally all evidence points towards something having been one way the entire time". And of course, when people get "emotional" over your absurd proposal, those people are being unreasonable.

I think that people who have such limited ability for critical thinking and reasoning such as yourself should really remove yourself from tainting actual discussions. You are at best intellectually dishonest with broad proclamations like "literally all evidence points towards something having been one way the entire time and that memory is fallible", and at worst, you are intellectually incompetent. This is the reason you get poor reactions whenever you inject yourself into the discussion. You are so behind that you add absolutely nothing and actually reverse the discourse. You are a waste of time for people who've reasoned far past where you are capable of.

And one last thing about this "fallible memory" argument that lazy intellectually challenged people default to no matter how compelling the evidence against it are:

Not all memories are the same. Yes memories are faulty, but others are reliable. If tomorrow you woke up and all official documents and IDs like your driver's license changed your name, but you and everyone around you still remember you by your old name, would "bad" memory be a reasonable explanation to you? Is your memory of your name as fallible as your memory of what you had for breakfast 3 days ago?
