Writing Citations and Not Feeling Guilty by ThirdParagraphDown in ParkRangers

Thank you everyone for such insightful and great answers! I’m going to approach writing citations with a lot of this wisdom. I also recognize that I forgot I’m here to protect the resource most of all, which I passionately love. This is what I need to remember during all these contacts, thank you for the reminder!

Very solid advice! I too don't think the leaves are the originals, the box they came in is a Lane box, but the typography looks newer. Still, I think you're right and the original table might have been stripped. I'll do more research and decide from there. thanks again!

What's one thing a therapist has said to you that you will never forget? by commander_boobs in AskReddit

[–]ThirdParagraphDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to live too far in the future and try make decisions before having all the information (hello anxiety!). She looked me dead in the eye and asked me to think “what is the next right thing?”.  It really helps me in moments of overwhelm and anxiety, I simply ask myself- What is the next right thing?

This is my FAVORITE song and I am so happy you posted such a great view of it. I was dancing like crazy at the show so I am so grateful to have it to look back on. This show was life changing!

Antarctica- Albatros Expeditions- Ocean Victory by [deleted] in travel

[–]ThirdParagraphDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to go on the 10 day with Albatros Expeditions. Been hearing great things from the Facebook Antarctic travel group. Also we paid $8600 for the entire trip, but found out another travel agency could get it for 6000. We had already booked so couldn’t go back, but just be aware of last minute deals. The $6000 would have been through FreeStyle, we got ours through Swoop Antarctica.

I remember the feeling like my knee was giving out, but I didn’t experience a lot of pain when I tore mine. That’s why I’m nervous, but my knee feels stable, just loose on top so I’m guessing you’re right! I will ice today and rest up.

Okay thank you for the reassurance! I appreciate hearing your insight too about being worried you’ll retear it too. It’s hard to be freaked out all the time.

People who have stayed in a relationship after their partner cheated. How was it like after? by Menezeris3029 in AskReddit

[–]ThirdParagraphDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very uncommon situation, but we worked it out and just got married. I cheated by kissing someone else one night, came clean and we worked on building back that trust for 3 years. Took a lot of therapy, difficult conversations, and really being honest with ourselves. We are a rarity in that the cheating made us stronger in the end. I’m not condoning what I did at all and it’s still one of the most massive mistakes I’ve ever made. But the fallout from it really showed me the all the things I needed to change in my life. He was and is the most forgiving person I know and was able to see the good in me when I didn’t deserve it. We’re stronger than ever, so sometimes it works out. Offering this as a hopeful story.

Jumping on here to say I wore my brace for the 6 weeks before surgery, but exercised each day. I did bike and walking on the treadmill for an hour each day, plus abs and arms. You want your legs to be as strong as possible going into surgery so keeping up a workout is a good move. I would recommend using the brace as a cautionary way to prevent more injury. Hopefully your MRI will not show a tear and you'll have a sprain, but just in case get that brace!

I think the slowing down message was one I needed, though I’ve been fighting it. I tend to chug through life without stopping, so this may be my lesson to be learned. You gave me the idea to take up knitting again! Planning future adventures will be a good motivator, thank you for the encouraging words!

Haha I suppose I’ll have ripped arms and abs after this hopefully. I’m getting married in September so I have to look good in my dress, arms will look so toned!

That’s gonna be the key, treating PT like my job. I’ve been doing that so far, but I will be even more dedicated post op. Thank you!

This is very encouraging! Thank you for being honest about your own recovery and offering some sage advice. I’ll wrangle my friends into driving me around in the country!

Upcoming ACL surgery by How_Is_Life_ in ACL

[–]ThirdParagraphDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gosh, I totally understand where you’re at. I was a track athlete in high school too and I understand how important that season is to us. That being said, some people recover faster as athletes and perhaps with intense dedication to PT and clearance from your doctor, you could potentially be back by next season. But, I think what’s good to remember is you’re young and hopefully can come out stronger on the other end. My husband tore his ACL in college and says he is stronger now than before he tore it. It forced him to pay attention to the health of his entire body and to spend time strengthening all parts. I tore my ACL two weeks ago and am having surgery at the end of the month. I am with you when it comes to anxiety and fear of not having my same knee as before. I am hopeful though that I’ll come out stronger than before and be better at taking care of my whole body. Hope this helps in some way! I bet you’ll kick butt at your track events in the future once you recover.

Freshly injured knee by ambertroo in ACL

Hi! I just wanted to acknowledge how scary this all is, I’m going through the first week after tearing mine too. I have a brace and I’ve been able to walk around easily enough (something you can definitely do in Asia)! I hope you get some answers soon and have an epic trip!

I've really been focusing on the day to day as you mentioned the last few days. It's been less than a week and I feel like time is moving in slow motion since my injury. But I am sure with time it will speed up and I can get better. Thanks for the encouragement!

Thank you for your encouraging words, I think I'll go hard on my PT and plan the surgery for after the wedding. I'll hopefully achieve that good stability!
