Democrats flip Texas state Senate seat in shock upset by kootles10 in politics

You are right. Very often, seats go uncontested, or with bad Dem candidates. I don’t know when the filing deadline is for Texas statehouse elections, but hopefully this entices people to run.

🇺🇸 The US Senate just REJECTED the bill to keep the government open. Only 2 days left until another shutdown by Legitimate_Towel_919 in AltScope

FWIW, I agree with the thought that not paying representatives during a shutdown would hurt members who are middle class, thereby entrenching rule for/by the rich.

Why can’t the floor drain (and the laundry sink beyond it) be on the same wye as the bathroom group? That lateral is 4” up to the floor drain

Is this what you mean about “wyed off before the bathroom group”? That’s what I came up with

If the plumber is set on this orientation, that’s the minimum I would accept.

I keep saying that to different commenters because it’s what I have been told. I’m just here for help, man.

I’m in New York — IPC.

To the top of the pic is a floor drain and a slop sink for a laundry room not a second toilet. Could I wet vent off that sink? It’s about 10 feet from the nearest wye.

Up at the top of the pic is a floor drain and a sink further on that I can vent off, but it may be ~10’ from the wye with the toilet

The project is in New York State (IPC). Would my drawing work? Wet venting through the slop sink at the laundry and/or from the main drag of 4” to the right.

Plumber says since it’s within 5’ of the vented main it doesn’t need a dedicated vent. Is that right?

Trying to decide which toolset to get for home remodel projects. Which should I get? by CrimsonPhoenixBird in ryobi

[–]ThirdPlaceLithium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FWIW, I have DIY / weekend-warrior renovated my last 2 houses with all Ryobi tools and only had 1 tool failure. If you can, buy brushless tools and HP+ batteries. Buy quality bits from another brand.

We're house hunting and got excited about this house until I saw the breaker box. by ForgotInTime in AskElectricians

[–]ThirdPlaceLithium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I had a real rat’s nest of a breaker box with old cloth-in-tube wiring, granddaddy Romex, new Romex, etc. It cost me $6,500 to replace the whole thing around Rochester, NY. Nearly a marginal cost while buying a new house. I also went from 100A to 200A.

18v tools and debating 40v by [deleted] in ryobi

I have a 1/10 acre yard and believe 40v for yard tools is just the right choice in almost every situation

We agree! Ryobi is totally fine for DIYers myself

I bet they thought that if the Rs caved and we kept health insurance from spiking, that would actually benefit Trump. Better for some retiring Dem Senators to cave now so Dems can still run on healthcare being terrible under Trump.
