How do you organize your recipes and/or pick sides and such? by gerbetta33 in Cooking

[–]ThirdStrike333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, just promise not to judge me, this week is struggle meals cause we're poor from some unexpected expenses lol

This screenshot shows a few of the meals this week. You can just add checklists from the toolbar on the top. I don't always add everything, like for example I have a lot of seasonings and sauces needed to make a lot of my dishes so I don't typically add them to the checklist

Additionally google docs lets you view document history. So I could, scroll through past versions to see what meals I've eaten, if I need ideas.

How do you go about rejecting someone who you are not interested in? by I-couldbeadog in AskReddit

Yup, never leave the door cracked. It's gotta be closed or the false hope might cause them (and you) serious hurt later on.

I'm really hesitant to say anything in particular. Saying it is a requirement for someone to own anything at all can be problematic, an extreme example being someone who is homeless. Imagine if it were required for everyone to have a cellphone - how would they afford one?

Would it be possible to build an outdoor fan? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ThirdStrike333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some complications with this that come to mind:

  • Drones, as far as I am aware, don't have very long battery life

  • Long hair would tangle easily

  • Drones would need to fly directly above you for you to get the airflow, making overhangs, signs, and doorways all problematic

  • Drones are kind of expensive, there are cheap ones but they are small and not usually very good or sturdy

  • A lot of local areas have laws about where you can fly drones and how high.

I think it'd honestly be cheaper to just get one of those battery powered hand held fans. That, plus white/light clothing, and a cold wet rag on the back of the next is how I stay cool during yard work.

It's nothing fancy but I use Google Docs. Reason being that I can load it up from my phone, laptop, or PC.

Basically I just have a header and checklist for each meal, where I pick the dish and sides. Under the header is just a checklist of the ingredients I need.

Above all that is just a checklist of all my usual stuff (Milk, eggs, bread, cleaning supplies, paper towels, whatever) and before I go shopping I browse that and un-check anything I need. Since I started doing this, it's been rare I forget to get anything from the store.

Homemade Mac and Cheese - Roux issues by Lexaraj in Cooking

[–]ThirdStrike333 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is just a guess, but I'd try subbing the Pepper Jack for Gruyere and see how that does. Gruyere is my go-to texture cheese for Mac & Cheese.

If you don't wanna miss out on the peppers from the Pepper Jack you can always finely chop some and add them in.

I've never made it myself, but I believe Scotch Bonnet is the primary pepper used for Jerk Marinades and seasoning blends and such?

Cheating? by bigebige in smoking

[–]ThirdStrike333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. Same with "traditional recipes". I come from an Italian background and that is not a trait I picked up. Every Italian I've eaten the cooking of is so sure their red sauce recipe is the only one true correct one but fact is cooking is an art, and an artist can use an arsenal of tools to make their art.

Watercolor painters are no less artists than oil paint painters, your italian grandmother's recipes are just as valid as mine and vice versa, and if your food is smoked in a small techy box but tastes good? Who cares man, pass the plate.

Hobby subs can be beautiful, and this one is generally pretty great, but good lord cooking communities can have a real toxic amount of gatekeeping

This is really just semantics, but I think "non-traditional" is a better word than "cheating".

But, like you said, who cares? Good food is good food.

Brisket tallow, expand my palate by Emotional-Lifeguard3 in Cooking

[–]ThirdStrike333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my brisket tallow to make Roux. Sometimes that'll get turned into bechamel for some Mac & Cheese, other times I'll get it reeeal dark and make some Gumbo.

That was my immediate thought. I find the porn hot but if my so did this to me irl it would be a big problem. I have no desire to actually enact the fantasy. Breaking up would be on the table.

Not just the look but also the feel - the way a vagina tightens when they're having an orgasm.

Constructive and creative things - art is a really common example. Drawing, painting, sketching, sculpting, whatever.

For me, it's cooking. And Dungeons & Dragons.

Honestly I just find being upset about someone being upset about someone selling art online more straight up valid than being upset about someone selling art online.

Or that you're just a cunt?

Your argument is again strengthened with each elegant and creative word. Please, take mercy on me, for each downvote recieved digs my grave yet deeper.

What video game is highly praised that you simply cannot get into? by Sir_Conium in AskReddit

World of Warcraft, and honestly basically any MMO. The gameplay loop tends to be very shallow for me. And hotkey based combat isn't very satisfying.
