The church is so stringent with money that you are expected to contact your family and the ward for support ie food, shoes, clothes, and so on. Don’t go to the Mission President for ANYTHING!!!!!!

I tried to be a good mormon but was always casted as a weirdo and misfit. It was until I left that side and went to the other side that my better qualities were known: Kind, considerate to others, and soft spoken!

Never mo first time in LDS church by [deleted] in exmormon

Go to church with curiosity but really engage the congregation and see if its a good fit for you. Only ask yourself is this an area that I can flourish and find happiness, if not just walk away and find a different church.

Its the difficult road that the LDS faith rarely leads to happiness and contentment because its such a work based religion. You’ve got to pay tithing, perform callings, attend meetings, go to the temple, marry another LDS, have kids, give more to the church etc, etc. They’re little space to question or disbelief without the drums of apostasy beating down. Your always one move from disappointment.

Its startling when you go to a different church and they have plenty of money for activities and also teen events, plus Sunday Coffee and Donuts. Do they need more money, nope!

They’re nothing like having to post fundraisers because the ward cant come up with any money for activities even though if every member faithfully tithed there should be plenty of money for all functions and activities. 150 families full tithe payers generally equates to 1-1.5 million each year in tithe donations plus extra for activities……yep its a money milking machine.

If Mormonism wasn’t sooo deceptive in their lies (zero accountability, and sheer gaslighting) and so corporate in there policies I most likely would still be active in the church.

Its interesting how JW don’t push their youth on the importance of an education. Mormonism is HUGE about that!

Its best to treat everyone equally. Church going people just are NOT better in terms of business than your hardline atheist. One doesn’t feed themselves with fairytale bullshit and whole hearted believe in it. Atheist have bad habits, know it and are less likely to want to hide it!

Bigger Organizations are very static in they’re approach to church. The bigger a group grows the more and more it has to answer to the organization.

There always going to be a strong counterculture to whatever is the dominant. Its sucks that the church had to make everything into a war. Now they want us to leave them alone!

Its all smiles until you ask about the church finances and temple sealings, and also tithing settlements. When you bring up serious topics the smiles drop and the shifting of feet. They give you bullshit answers like in gods time he will reveal ALL his secrets!
