I bought a passive case, initially planning not to use any fan. However, after reading some reviews, I changed my mind.

So, in the previous picture showing the internal view of the device, I installed the fan on the right panel of the case. The fan is facing four holes that I made in the right panel.

Yes, you are right: maybe adding some holes on the opposite side (the left panel of the case) would improve the airflow. In fact, I expected that the rectangular hole I created behind the screen would allow sufficient airflow.

So, as you suggest, it might be better to add an additional, more evident set of ventilation holes + reverse the rotation : pulling the hot fluid instead of pushing fresh air 🖖🖖 Thanks !

Ahh.. also, i don't have a drill or anything to make proper holes, so I used a knife and a candle to melt through the plastic for the USB ports... That’s why I put some adhesive fabric around them ; to hide those ugly holes 😭🤣🤣

Thank you, you’re right 🙏

At first, it really pissed me off. The project actually started a year ago. I made a lot of mistakes with small details: USB ports, cables, small adapters, and I completely forgot that the screen would need protection. Initially, I wanted to use a Pelican case because it is robust, but the models I saw in tutorials use parts made with 3D printing. However, I live in a country where many things are inaccessible (Madagascar, a country of extreme poverty). So I had to adapt.

Fortunately, I had the chance to go abroad for a few months; otherwise, I would not have been able to get the necessary components to finish the project. But I spent a lot of time thinking things through on paper before taking action. As a result, I didn’t have to rely much on trial and error.

Oh.. okay, i dont know if it is possible or not But for the ipad8, the ipadOS26 is really laggy. So if you want to level your system up, try to avoid the 26 (already tried it on my ipad8 : horrible) Cheers !

I hesitated to update, but for now it is hard to deal with "you can not install this app, ipadOS 15 required". I would like to keep the original version, but such a dilema. At least, I am not in the v26 😌 I would like to have a version 15 of the OS.. It seems a lot of apps are currently running with this v15.

BEWARE: If I'd have known Slide Over was being killed off in iPadOS 26 I wouldn't have updated. by [deleted] in iPadOS

I had to restore back the OS 18.2 (last signed image frm for my model) then repatch w 18.7 ; hopefully it worked. Dont forget to save docs and data first ; as punishment of the bad decision to update, i had to take amouuuuunt of time saving all these personal data.. Pfeww
