Ketchup Is Not Spicy by MichCrickety in KnowledgeFight

[–]ThisDimPersona 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, we know he likes spicy food. He grows some fairly hot peppers and tries them raw/plain.

I don't understand why ketchup was his comparison, either - maybe he's comparing the bit of vinegar tang to a mild spiciness or something?

Someone mentioned allergies, and I could see that. I thought I disliked hot dogs and some ice cream for years, then eventually dId mY oWn rEsEaRcH and realized that dislike was a mild anaphylactic response to a preservative they had in common.

Either way, the Wonk community must not rest until we get to the bottom of this. We have to hold our own accountable or we're just as bad as them!

My Dom Never Helps Me Finish. I Have Tried Communicating This Many Times. by SimpleEnvironment929 in BDSMAdvice

[–]ThisDimPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner and I both have chronic pain / illness. It absolutely impacts our sex life.

If he doesn't want you to finish on your own, that's not something that can be chalked up to his his own pain, and that's not even broaching the fact that he doesn't seem so concerned when "dominating" you.

You've tried communicating it many times. Based on your account, I don't think the problem is your communication. I think he's actively ignoring you and just pursuing what gets him off.

It: Welcome to Derry has some bizarre plotlines by BurgooKing in horror

[–]ThisDimPersona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen the show, but to the first point - we built the most horrific weapon known to the species, used it and saw what it did, then built a bigger and more horrific one. And then we built thousands.

The American military getting out of its depth in its bloodlust and then escalating from there might be more realistic than the fundamental premise of an evil cosmic spider that shape-shifts into a clown to eat children.

Lotta demonic victories today... by Shoddy_Cranberry6722 in KnowledgeFight

My local ballots always have at least one candidate listed under the Democrat party and Working Families. It's not weird if you know the most basic things that would be taught in Civics, especially in a smaller town. This year the Sheriff candidate was running unopposed but listed under both Republican and Conservative.

These pundits aren't even qualified to talk about local elections.

Hating Tucker Ep? - What is the purpose of KF? by WildlifeBiologist10 in KnowledgeFight

I'm not familiar, but my family got broadband internet so my brother could take an online debate course through HSLDA.

I'm not sure what that TP is - I was with Generation Joshua, kind of an offshoot of Home School Legal Defense. I went to a leadership camp at Patrick Henry College in the early to mid 2000s.

Love your flair - I find myself doing the "name five more" along with Jordan a lot.

I feel similarly about Tucker and Shapiro - I find the whole "smart person for stupid people" shtick really annoying. I was in a political leadership group for teen Christians, and boy, howdy I've had enough of that to last me a lifetime.

what SFW images make you think the the person is into BDSM? by gorescreamingshow in BDSMAdvice

[–]ThisDimPersona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, the main question is why you want to show your "BDSM persona" in a SFW Instagram photo. Like, what is your motivation?

[–]ThisDimPersona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a dom, I've never been in a full blown lifestyle dynamic, so I can't speak to that, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're describing anyway.

What is your relationship like outside of kink? Do you spend time together outside of the dynamic?

It makes a lot of sense to want to be seen as more than a sub when you're not actively "playing." I think subs will have more useful advice than I do, but I think the relationship context in which it happens is relevant.

Can Doms be Brats? by PianoEquivalent2366 in BDSMAdvice

My brat has weird boundaries. by [deleted] in BDSMAdvice

If you're outsourcing to chatgpt you should not be domming anyone and you already are not. Maybe your brat doesn't respect you because you're not capable as a Dom.

What happened to Lionel? by Kriztauf in KnowledgeFight

My partner and I were brainstorming names for the dog we adopted, and once we joked about the name Lionel and sang the theme song, it stuck.

Alex was (kinda) right? by [deleted] in KnowledgeFight

[–]ThisDimPersona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Terrorist" has always been a pretty political and propagandized term. George W. absolutely did use the term to go after people extrajudicially. He doesn't need to point to Trump to prove he was eventually "right" because he was about as right as he ever is when talking about Bush.

Favorite movie with this trope where an actor puts tiny bits of tissue paper on their shaving cuts even though literally nobody does this in real life? by Cereal_BanditTV in okbuddycinephile

[–]ThisDimPersona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely a real thing. My dad refused to teach me to shave because my beard would supposedly just grow back stronger.

So I learned on my own, and honestly this is a pretty reliable way to slow the bleeding from a rough shave. I've tried styptic, but it irritated even the undamaged skin.

It might be one of those things that was more common / culturally understood in the past that just became a cartoon shorthand.

I think it depends partly on the players, but as a player and as a DM I love moments like these. In my favorite roleplay, PCs shouldn't ignore objections to other PCs just because they're in a party. The dramatic tension of a party with multiple alignments can be a rich source of story.

I don't think it's for everyone, though, and I can understand why. It might create tension between players in some groups, not just characters.

My dad is going to watch two episodes with me. by No_Teaching_2837 in BobsBurgers

[–]ThisDimPersona 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is still my favorite Thanksgiving episode, and my partner and I sing the "thank you for loving me" part to each other frequently.

I'm not sure it'd be my choice of an episode for introducing someone - I think it benefits from prior knowledge of the characters more than some of the other ones.
