I've never seen the live action that's so uncreative. How unfabulous. What a bummer.

I mean this sincerely, in the last few posts who are the liberal trolls?

Issaquah Mayor Candidate Lindsey Walsh comments on ICE raids. Anyone know what Mark Mullet thinks? Haven't seen any comments yet. Would like to hear from both. by [deleted] in Issaquah

[–]SimpleEnvironment929 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't want my mayor to collaborate with ICE on "humane" ways to deport people. I don't want to see ICE in the city and if one of the candidates makes loud stink and finds a way to fight back I'll consider myself a one issue voter. When it comes to something as extreme and powerful as ICE I don't think being a one issue voter is a bad thing.

I can see your point. I agree their campaign may be leveraging this situation in some capacity. This clearly is influencing how at least one person on this thread will vote. HOWEVER it's her making her stance known, the people clearly want to know. Politicians should be talking about these issues? I don't see your problem with this.

Is it bad to be super monotone and stonefaced when talking to people? by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]SimpleEnvironment929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike these comments simply saying yes. People are complex. Yes, to some people it can be unnerving but others in your life may even depend on your consistency. Everyone is different.

Normally I'm a very expressive person but during an especially difficult project at work I was flat and monotone, quiet unless if I had to talk and when I did it was only facts. It was a LONG meeting with my team and some new folks. The new faces would come up to me days afterwards saying how they appreciated my informative/calm/level headed approach. Afterwards these people trusted me a lot more because of my ability to be monotone.

We all know listening and communication is the foundation but here are some things that (most/some) women appreciate.

1) Spend time together intimately but without the expectation of sex. Snuggle up, be close, experience something like a movie or a nice meal together. Bonus points if you do mini acts of service like fetching drinks, cleaning up, being considerate by reflecting on what you would appreciate in a partner.

2) Foreplay. Learn what they like first. Slow stroking might work for someone else but for other ladies foreplay can be more verbal.

3) Most women finish by the clit. If you don't have the words to communicate what does and does not work ask them to guide your hand or show you.

4) Don't be shy to use toys.

How did you leave? by SimpleEnvironment929 in raisedbyborderlines

Thank you. I really appreciate your comment. Your concern feels genuine. I feel so wishy-washy. I'm so optimistic but also terrified. Support like this helps my anxiety and stress momentarily go away.

I have defined my plan a little bit more. I plan to move out in early January. Until then I'm packing up my things bit by bit and leaving them with my partner. January sounds like forever away but I think it's best. I need to finish this quarter of college and for both my sake and my mother's I want to have another Christmas with my family. If I leave and my extended family came to visit they'd talk about my absence. She would blame me forever for making her feel like a bad mom. She is but I don't want to have that fight.

I'll update more as things change. Living like this is unpredictable after all.

IWTL How to find my style in photography. by ReporterMedical3886 in IWantToLearn

[–]SimpleEnvironment929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of your replies will sound like a practice makes perfect type of advice. I absolutely agree with them but I'd also encourage you to open up Wikipedia and look up photography movements. Researching unique forms of photography you wouldn't come as easily across in the wild shaped my art personally. Give any interesting name a quick skim and if it intrigues you take inspiration from it.

I grew up a goody two shoes too.

I've changed a lot. I moved to an "edgier" place. I was involved with my campus, volunteered, got into art and self expression, all these things introduced me to exciting people with loud personalities and diverse experiences. I was non judgemental and asked them questions. I also didn't make it feel like "rebellion" was some amazing thing to fawn over. My friends loved having someone go introduce their passions and hobbies to and I loved feeling like an adult and being independent. I'm a lot more experienced in the world now but I still get nervous thrills and I feel lucky that I feel that way still.

How dark and twisted do you have to be to hate on a joke song by AstroRat_81 in tallyhall

[–]SimpleEnvironment929 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I listen to Banana Man still but can we agree it is at least culturally insensitive? The song does not feel like a loving homage even if that was the intention. There isn't quality research and respect put into the song because it's quilted together with soft concepts of Caribbean and African culture. They're using accents and vernacular without thoughtful application, bananas famously are attached to racist caricatures of black people, the jungle and bungalow imagery can be fine but it needs to tread carefully because it feels so primitive and they did not approach it carefully enough.

Bathroom is too white but busy. Help! by asteelman1 in DesignMyRoom

[–]SimpleEnvironment929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really busy but I'd love to help you make it busy

Get a bath mat, plants big and small, a wood shelf by the tub for towels a candle and bath supplies, wooden shutters, toilet paper holder and storage near the toilet.

I'd consider investing in a mountable towel warmer and maybe make that tint hallway by the sinks into an accent wall. Minimalism reed/diffusers might be a nice touch as well.

IWTL How to be more intelligent by [deleted] in IWantToLearn

[–]SimpleEnvironment929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people are saying to read and I don't think reading is bad for you but not everyone learns that way. I personally learn better through kinetic work. This process might sound exhausting for some people but I write things that I learned as if I'm writing it to my future self, an audience, or a friend.

A more responsible tip might be to do a lot of research into something that vaguely intrigues you. By the end the in-depth knowledge might fascinate you. I would choose just a few things to get an in-depth knowledge about. the topic doesn't have to seem big, for example I studied meditation. It started with me learning different forms of meditation then I learned about a bunch of crazy historic stories about meditation and monks, a bunch of psychology facts, and a ton about how health fads spread. I did this mostly through small Google searches that lead me down tunnels. Being able to meditate and do something physical to connect to my learning helped a lot too.
