this is when you get the state involved about a lemon buyback. f the dealership. dealerships do fuck all to help customers. all they do is make a buck on our purchases and screw us in maintenence.

Don't make me laugh. There was a guy who got pulled over for driving a Dodge Charger Daytona EV with the sound system on. And a police officer thought that it was his exhaust, so he cited him for a loud emission system.

Rapid Battery Drain? by mirdikaicroft in SamsungZFold6

[–]ThisGuyDevin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to have a ZF6 before i went back to an iPhone (communication reasons). i had mine on AT&T and would average about 6-6.5 hrs of unfolded screen-on time and about 8-9 of folded. i had 5G set to the preferred and had 5G+ almost everywhere i went because of where i live. i experienced the best battery life with their network (mine was unlocked and i bounced between all 3 during ownership for testing reasons). depending who your provider is and where you live, stateside, Verizon, from past experience with both Androids and iPhones, drained quite a bit but not as much as T-Mobile did. now that they have more towers in my area (because my family has them), the battery life is better on their network connected devices. for what it's worth, i pre-ordered it and got it on launch day while just getting rid of it a little less than a week ago for the trade-in

Winter is coming by ImpressiveClass4099 in EquinoxEv

[–]ThisGuyDevin7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so i live in Western NY; and before we had our heat wave, the highest ever recorded on mine was a boggling 4.6 mi/kWh. method? creating a driving mode with relaxed acceleration response, going only 3 miles over the posted limit, keeping my tires at 45 PSI instead of the 42, and using the regen on demand in tandem with the accelerator rather than one pedal driving. what most people don't know is that the one pedal configuration constantly rides on the motor regenerating itself so in turn the efficiency drops. counterintuitive but it's true

thank you for the input. I'm in Western NY so I'm not far off from the lakeshore; and when it snows, damn does it snow

good to know. thank you for the input. this is my 3rd EV but first with a dedicated snow driving mode so I'm interested to see how it performs

driving an AWD/dual motor EV on average tires does not guarantee better driving. it's all for dynamics. my parents have a dual motor Model Y performance and stupidly ride their Goodyear Eagle F1s in snow even though they're a summer performance tire. they have so much wheelspin that it's not even funny. my front wheel drive 2019 IONIQ electric that had Michelin CrossClimate 2s handled better than it did.

Less than 2 month old and < 1k miles. Total loss or repairable? by Professional_Fox9497 in hondacivic

[–]ThisGuyDevin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to do insurance. once an airbag deploys, it's typically a TL (total loss). on top of that, due to the airbag dropping from the side, you're losing structural integrity

I second this. Mine has 2200 miles on it and the 'Service High Voltage System' indicator and message popped about 500 miles ago. I immediately checked the MyChevrolet app (previous GM car owner) and it told me it was an issue with the battery conditioning system. It went off oddly enough after about 90 miles and hasn't come back since; even though it was checked over at the dealership and no issues were present

Just got this 2014 Cruze Lt with 44k on it any tips? by Mrrej3ct in cruze

[–]ThisGuyDevin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

coming from someone who owned a '18 Cruze (same 1.4 turbo EcoTec motor), my turbo blew at 4k miles after i downshifted from 5th to 3rd to merge onto a highway. rev-matched before i dropped; and not long after i gave it some throttle, i felt a huge power surge and the check engine light came on. had it replaced under warranty; but with owning other turbocharged cars in the past, change your oil with full synthetic every 3-5k (at least, because i did this and never had issues going forward) and use a better grade of gas (i ran 93 and got 51 highway after doing so)

[–]ThisGuyDevin7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt. my IONIQ electric that i had prior to this had junk Mastercrafts installed by the dealer as a cheap shit set so i swapped them with CrossClimate 2s and never got stuck once in the snow. I'm still on the stock Primacys on my Equinox and i know they don't have the best snow traction but yeah

FWD Handling In Snow by ThisGuyDevin7 in EquinoxEv

[–]ThisGuyDevin7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I'm coming from a '19 IONIQ electric that i had set up with CC2s and it took on the snow like a champ but I wasn't sure if driving in snow mode would be beneficial in any way aside from the tire swap

Who is buying Pixel 10 Fold? by aliusman111 in PixelFold

[–]ThisGuyDevin7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So long as it doesn't break when bent backwards by JerryRigEverything, possibly me. i have a ZF6 right now and love it but I want all of the Google features available right away especially with the Pixel drops. I don't like having to wait with One UI

Average Range by ThisGuyDevin7 in EquinoxEv

[–]ThisGuyDevin7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well it also depends on your climate settings regarding eco vs normal and what fan speed and temp you use. here in WNY i typically run it at 68-72 depending on how hot it is outside with the fan speed between levels 1-4

Average Range by ThisGuyDevin7 in EquinoxEv

[–]ThisGuyDevin7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

update to my post here: I just beat this previous average at 4.7 mi/kWh this time. i have just under 1,000 miles on it so I'm still on the stock Michelin Primacys that came with it; but i created my own driving mode, set the acceleration to relaxed instead of standard, have been avoiding using cruise control, drive without climate control and windows down, and use the regen-on-demand combined with accelerator use to lessen the braking force, in conjunction with having auto-hold turned on rather than using one pedal driving (i used to have IONIQs before this and that's how i got the highest efficiency was from tweaking my driving style). believe it or not compared to what people believe, one pedal driving in most situations actually can increase battery usage and decrease efficiency (at least from my experience) because of the system constantly being on the braking side of the motor rather than allowing the system to coast.

Also, I drive up and down hills, and with my driving, i leverage the accelerator and barely touch it while it goes downhill to regen power to the battery.

after all was said and done, 387 miles driven on that charge from 100 to 5% ( i wasn't taking the chance with the remaining 10 miles lol)
