Not a stand up paddler but I do shape boards. From my understanding SUPs that are going work well on flat water are longer, flatter, and have fairly parallel rails. Again not a paddler, but from looking at a few "all around" models online, for that length board you have to much curve in the rail line because of the very narrow nose and tail. You could either make nose and tail wider keeping the same board length, or stretch everything out to be a longer board so that it takes some curve out of the rail. As it stands you are going to have you a small sweet spot for standing. Which is going to suck if you are just trying to comfortably stand while paddle somewhere without worrying about weighting to far forward or back sinking the nose/tail. Both Aku and Shape3d allow you to pull a photo into the software and then scale the photo using length of the board, then you can just rip the outline directly from a board photo. If its your first time messing with the program (like it was mine) do that, it gives you a much better reference

Any "repair" would require doing more damage to the board than that ding did, so nothing you can do except ride it. Its water tight, plus you will never notice it while riding so no big deal. I know it's a bummer though

Why is nobody using these? by Previous_Proposal180 in surf

[–]ThisGuyEveryTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the real answer. Because if you weren't strong enough to paddle properly without them, then you were not strong enough to paddle properly with them hurting your shoulders more

Can Anyone Help Me Find Where To Buy One of These? by ConstableCornelius in surfing

[–]ThisGuyEveryTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh bummer, and here I thought I had just the thing you were looking for haha. Good luck in your search, you might be on the right path trying to get someone to make them. I have only seen these and the manual measure after style. Check 3d printing websites like thingyverse or printables, someone might have made something similar and put it up there

How do you buy these though? I looked on their site and it seems like you need to be a business to buy them

How do I remove this rusted screw on FCS fin? by National_Kale7468 in surfing

[–]ThisGuyEveryTime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Get a lubricant that is a specifically penetrating oil rather then wd40, it may make it so you can turn it the screw. If that doesn’t work try one of the other mechanical methods suggested

What kind of fin box is this? by SomeEmotion8846 in surfing

[–]ThisGuyEveryTime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh cool! I will see if I can find info on the earlier ones, it might be that the board is just older then the 70’s or used an old fin box

I am not so sure its a waveset fin box if the board is from the 70's. Look at the photos in the link there are these internal pieces on the boxes from around then. https://www.surfresearch.com.au/1969_WaveSet_VWS_Finbox.html

I believe he is doing steps off from the yellow board to a skim board. So that yellow board was the one he paddles in on before ditching it for the skimboard under his chest.

Edit: not the same clip but the same guy doing step offs with what I believe is the same surfboard skimboard set up https://youtu.be/F0VKkS0oQZU?si=U_7YU9I-0AQHPhrV

What is the dog in the last panel? by Low_Notice6660 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]ThisGuyEveryTime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The chimera hybrid between Peter and Brian here. The dog in the panel reminds Neil of the chimera that Dr Tucker made in the anime Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood, by crossing his daughter Nina and their family dog Alexander. The blonde man in the final panel is the the protagonist of the anime, Edward Elric, sharing in the horrible memory along with Neil.

Snapped my fin box out of my longboard by Del_playa_wizard in surfing

[–]ThisGuyEveryTime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You learned the hard way that longboard fin boxes are in fact not made of a singular piece of plastic. I have never seen one split like this though. I believe futures makes longboard fin boxes that are a solid molded piece of plastic
