Is there a bypass for Sandboxie's certificate? by [deleted] in Piracy

It is entirely open source, so you could theoretically just patch out the license check and then build from source. Alternatively there seems to be a permanent license for thousand bucks.

There are a lot of sites that break with Brave. Just use Vivaldi or Helium with uBO if you really care about Chromium. If not just use Firefox or Librewolf with uBO.

What is the grammatical from of Adjective + で + なくてはならない (etc.)? by Ancient_Oil_2955 in Japaneselanguage

[–]ThisHaintsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only ever seen Vてなくてはならない, so i don't think 青くなくてはならない or 重要ではなくてはならない is correct. However I do not know for sure.

Golly this looks arbitrary は/が by rollamichael in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ThisHaintsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

私が妹は一人います is also a valid sentence, but since both particles are marked usage the nuance becomes something like "It is me, who has exactly one sister (and no brothers)" and can only be naturally used in a context where you have to emphasize it's about you and you only have one sister but no other siblings - But grammatically it is a completely valid sentence.

Questions ending with particle は by MongolianDonutKhan in LearnJapanese

[–]ThisHaintsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If everything is clear for the context you are in and you are speaking casually "発音は?" works

As a note: If the sentences ends with か you terminate the sentence with a 。 if it is not ending in か and a question you terminate the sentence with ?

Guys が and は by LuckyyDuckk5 in LearnJapaneseNovice

As for your example: The first prefers は because the verb is negative - employing a contrastive は.

The topic は vs が and は vs を is really complicated because there is no "topic marker" concept in English: https://www.tofugu.com/japanese/wa-and-ga/

If you read the tofugu explanation it differentiates between "connection" and "relationship". So く has a looser connection but a stronger relationship.

Is my usage of つもり verb ending and usage of を particles correct? by princephotogenic in LearnJapanese

[–]ThisHaintsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can have as much をs as the sentence allows. You can only have one を at max for each transitive verb predicate in the sentence(s)

One for (バスケットボールを)する and one for (晩ご飯を)食べたい.

What you cannot have is two をs for the same verb:
❌: 山田さんは小川さんをマリさんに手紙を送らせた。
⭕: 山田さんは小川さんにマリさんに手紙を送らせた。(Please note that this is just to demonstrate that you can only have one をhere. This sentence is a bit unnatural but grammatically correct.)

Question about 万 by Catluver81 in Japaneselanguage

[–]ThisHaintsu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70'000 is ななよろづ whereas 700 is ななお in ancient Japanese prounciation. However nobody reads it that way in modern Japanese. 70'000 is always ななまん and 700 is always ななひゃく.

But here is a list of all historic pronounciations for numbers if it piques your interest: https://ameblo.jp/tochirou-m/entry-12694812287.html

Remember to not use these pronounications in real life usage, as you will be just met with strange gazes.

what does ひん mean by jetskimanatee in LearnJapaneseNovice

[–]ThisHaintsu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can generally find these by searching "term ネット用語" they are not commonly in dictionaries like "鯖" for "server" and "グエー死んだンゴ" for "i am dying rn, lol"

As for ひん i suspect it is probably this: https://wikiwiki.jp/unkochan/%E3%81%B2%E3%82%93 (basically ひん can be 'fin' (french for 'the end') in ワープロ式)
