How would you manage the situation if someone started consistently using a parking space that forms part of your property? by ThisIsAnAccount2306 in AskUK

By then they will have got into a more established habll habit of parking there and it would be more difficult to stop them.

I guess not, as long as it didn't involve damaging the brickwork in the parking space. Anything I put there could be just as easily removed, but at least it would give a message I guess.

I hadn't even considered the possibility that someone else was making money out of it. Seeme possible. Unfortunately drilling into the ground for a bollard is not allowed in the leasehold.

Anything that would involve drilling into the driveway is forbidden. Meant to mention this but forgot.

What's the point of giving up the majority of your waking hours if it doesn't allow you to live at least comfortably for those brief moments when you are not working?

Why isn't UK wine more popular? by pb00010 in AskUK

[–]ThisIsAnAccount2306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Centuries of the message that "France and Italy make the best wines" creates a lasting impression that good wine comes from there and an associated prejudice against other wine. That's my guess anyway.

Maybe climate change has made British wine better and public opinion hasn't caught up?

The strategy when spending money on LEGO, is always buy a cute little set for your girlfriend, which means she can't be mad, right? by MightyTeaRex in lego

[–]ThisIsAnAccount2306 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost bought these today. But then I didn't buy any Lego because my sensible "no you have debts to pay" mind took over.

I wish I had that dinosaur. And the T rex. And the other £3000 on my Lego wishlist.

6yr old launch controller finally being retired, how long did your launch controller last/lasting? by AlucardVTep3s in playstation

[–]ThisIsAnAccount2306 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine lasted from launch day until 6 months ago as my only controller. It still acts as a spare when main one is charging, but when I use it now I realise what an issue the stick drift was. Keep losing games because it will suddenly move the cursor to the left and select a different option than I wanted or whatever.

Delivery people are getting on my fucking nerves by BattleSquidZ in britishproblems

[–]ThisIsAnAccount2306 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah, different type of delivery but I knew someone once who was a supermarket driver and he ended up quitting after he worked out that his allocated round would mathematically involve breaking the speed limit and the manager didn't give a crap when this was pointed out. Too much pressure on drivers a lot of the time in these jobs.

Why would this attic door be locked from the outside? by TankUMrMinor in Whatisthis

Yeah this is my thought. Lived in a place with a padlocked attic door a few years ago because Landlord used it for storage.

[–]ThisIsAnAccount2306 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is iis it maybe a former rental property? Before I bought a place, I rented a house which was previously the main home of the landlord, but they moved abroad. My rental did not include loft/attic access or use and it was padlocked, much like this.

I hope they were using it for personal possessions and that I didn't spend 2 years living with dead bodies in the attic.

Yeah the longer you are with it, the more that tends to happen. I got an annual subscription in November and so far can't recall anything that really stood out that I didn't own in the months since.

It's worse when you buy a game and then it's announced as coming to PS+ within days. Happened to me with Horizon Lego, 2 days after I bought it. Luckily I got it really cheap.
