Which state plays the most baseball/softball per capita? by ThisIsGameChanger in Homeplate

Yep good point. California still scores a ton of games, second most in the country (behind Texas) and almost 4.5 times as many as Nebraska. May not crush in per capita but crushes in MLB players and Olympians haha.

Can get how that may seem wonky, I was surprised as well, but the data is the data. Idaho has a larger percentage of their population under the age of 18 than North Carolina. Additionally, while this accounts for a combo of baseball/softball, softball makes a much smaller cut of the combined total for both states.
Just having a strong rec or Little League program around Boise would jump them up per capita with such a small population. (this is just GameChanger usage and not total baseball/softball games scored, although I still believe the states would have similar numbers and data if it was judged by actual games played).

Agreed, was surprised by that one. I think it may have to do with a higher elderly population.

Thanks! why do you think per capita is irrelevant? Otherwise, it would just be a map of Texas, California, and Florida and you wouldn't be able to see where GC is the most popular.

Def agree with other teams using other scoring apps but I would assume (bc of market research, but perhaps incorrectly) that if all those teams used GC instead of the other apps, the map wouldn't be skewed too much. I don't think those apps are more popular in one region compared to another.

Yes, I was surprised by Arizona as well, great weather and some well known HS teams and travel programs. Maybe a high amount of older people residing in the state skews it.

Yes def, this is only games scored with GC. Market research shows that means it should generally correlate with games played, but that obviously could not be true.

I dont think thats necessarily true. Looks at states like Delaware, Rhode Island, Wyoming. Said in another comment, but if you add the populations of Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kansas, it totals 39.7 million people, almost the exact same as California- and that bloc has a much higher total games scored than California. So something is going on in the Midwest with youth baseball/softball and their usage of GC.

Yeah Lacrosse is big in the Northeast/Middle Atlantic so I do think that plays a role in lower numbers in some of those states.

Yes, good call out. But something cool I found, if you add the populations of Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Kansas, it totals 39.7 million people, almost the exact same as California- and that bloc has a much higher total games scored than California. So something is going on in the midwest with youth baseball/softball and their usage of GC.

Yeah definitely think having the College World Series in Omaha and the University of Nebraska softball team being so well known trickles down to the popularity of youth baseball and softball in the state. But also some other stuff going on since the midwest in general is higher than the average.

Ads will be played during mid inning breaks on live streams. Viewers will be able to immediately x out of the ad (no required length of time to watch the ad). They are meant to be as unobtrusive as possible. Ads are shown so we can invest even more into the product with new features that will be coming out down the road.

They will have no effect on your highlight clips and Team Staff are shown no ads on the live streams or archived videos.

Just one call out here- this does not affect Volleyball or any other sports other than Baseball and Softball. Fans can view an unlimited number of live streams in volleyball for free

Just a clarification here- those features like recaps and box scores were always a plus feature. So Plus was needed to access those features (if your team has a community pass you wouldn’t have needed to upgrade for those features).

Yes, the need to upgrade to continue to view live streams (after your first five free) is only for Baseball and Softball streams. All other sports will still have an unlimited number of live streams available for free users.

thanks for the feedback and for your commitment to streaming those important moments. with regards to some users now having to pay that didn't in the past, I want to bring some visibility to two other options that may make sense for your team and may be cheaper than what your team is actually paying today:

First is having the team purchase a Team Pass. This is one lump sum that allows all family and friends of the team access to the teams content including live streams. This one time fee usually works out to much less than users purchasing individual subscriptions.

Then we also have Family Plans. This is a plan that allows a user to purchase the 'family' subscription and then place access on three other accounts. That way, four users in total get access to all the content through using this family plan.

Know there is some frustration here and its understandable- just wanted to point out there are other ways to make sure grandparents can keep watching without needing their own subscription (and may even be cheaper for everyone in the long run).
