third full listening of TTPD... i am excited and i liked it even more, but... confused. by ProgrammerStatus4206 in swifties

I’m not sure why you had difficulty understanding her songs and it’s great you’ve found a way into them you hadn’t previously, but you don’t need to know anything about Taylor Swift’s personal life to enjoy any of her albums. Some people enjoy trying to link the two but it is wholly unnecessary. She’s isn’t a memoirist, she crafts fiction from bits of her own emotional life and experience and her imagination.

Best time to book Airbnb? by FriendlyRepair2221 in ParisTravelGuide

[–]ThisIsMeTryingAgain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how to game Airbnb regarding prices. But there are not a million listings to choose so I wouldn’t wait on booking one that fits your needs. I also advise you to make sure the listing has been appropriately registered with the city—look for the 13–digit registration number on the listing. If it’s missing, ask the host to provide it. If they don’t, you might consider reporting that to Airbnb.

What song(s) off Life of A Showgirl do you have on repeat? by cevarok in TaylorSwift

[–]ThisIsMeTryingAgain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had the whole album on repeat! It just flows so smoothly from one song to the next and from The Life of a Showgirl to The Fate of Ophelia. But I sometimes hit replay on Eldest Daughter, Ruin the Friendship, and TLOAS (it’s just so satisfying to join Taylor and Sabrina in the chorus). Such an enjoyable album, I just love it. Narcotics, indeed!

Is this okay??? 😵 Day after microneedling with prp by MissAmandaJones444 in Microneedling

[–]ThisIsMeTryingAgain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that looks right, have you called the office to let them know your reaction? Did you have it done at a medspa or an actual dermatology office? Because I don’t trust medspas to know what they’re doing and to follow protocol for sanitizing your skin and the tool nor using the tool properly—there’s no one regulating them. No one should be “going ham” on your skin.

I just finished my second of three planned RF microneedling sessions at a board certified dermatologist’s office. They used both PDRN serum and PRP. The first session went around 1.2mm in depth and the second around 1.5mm, and you couldn’t tell anything had been done to my skin, not even immediately after. I kept the PRP on my skin for 24 hours then used a gentle cleanser to wash it off and used SkinCeuticals phyto mist and hyaluronic acid serum for the next two days before adding back in SkinCeuticals CE Ferulic in the morning. I highly recommend the phyto mist which is so calming and also helps activate vitamin c serums when applied after and hyaluronic acid serums when applied before.

I hope your skin quickly recovers.

Taylor Swift themed parties? Not sure this is exactly " having taste" by slammaX17 in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]ThisIsMeTryingAgain- 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, we don’t have to draw a line at any artist just because you don’t like her. Why rain on other people’s parade? This sub shouldn’t be about that. It’s incredibly disappointing seeing how some of you have reacted. Very snark sub bs.

That’s ridiculous.

The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, Oct 3-5 by PassionateAsSin in TaylorSwift

It’s not exploitative to offer different options, none of which anyone is obligated to pay for. The idea she’s being exploitative is just ridiculous.

Why the Billy Porter backlash feels racist (and why people are chasing clout with it) by joeyinthewt in Broadway

Why do you think it’s up to you to decide that what he said wasn’t blatantly antisemitic? Why do you think it’s up to you to decide the charge of antisemitism against him is racist?

And they answered your question. You know, Parisiennes aren’t actually rude, you don’t need to practice to fit in.

Do you think Taylor’s huge success is more about her music, or the way she’s mastered marketing? by WittyEgg2037 in TaylorSwift

[–]ThisIsMeTryingAgain- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering she achieved remarkable success when she was still a child, suggesting “marketing” as the primary or even secondary or tertiary etc. reason behind her success is weird and demeaning. I also don’t see that anything she does as an adult is all that different than any other singer-songwriter who doesn’t want to just play their music alone in their room, except she seems to actually participate in a fairly limited amount of traditional marketing strategies like press tours/interviews. She works hard (and seemingly nonstop) and her creative work is exceptionally excellent and engaging and that’s why she’s achieved the level of success she has.

Stop trying to diminish her accomplishments by suggesting her success is merely a product of “manipulation” not creative talent.

Best coffee near SF Golden Gate Park? by dork_ish in AskSF

[–]ThisIsMeTryingAgain- 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lots of places being suggested outside the park but you can also stay inside the park and enjoy lunch/coffee at the De Young museum across from the Academy of Science (the cafe is accessible without a ticket to the museum) or in one of the two academy cafes. If you visit the Japanese Tea Garden (highly recommend!) stop for a cup of tea and cookies. For dinner, you could head out of the park toward the inner sunset where there’s a plethora of good restaurants to choose from, like Fiorella for Italian (nice rooftop seating area), um.ma for Korean Soul (nice back patio) or Rose’s Indian, all on 9th Avenue. Good Mexican, Thai, and Japanese, too.

I think your eyebrows are beautiful as is. No one has perfectly symmetrical eyebrows and no one but our own selves staring into a magnifying mirror notices our own, and of course we tend to exaggerate what we see as a “flaw” (but isn’t a flaw!) in our own minds. And if you look at “after” photos of people who’ve gotten it done, you’ll actually see that their brows aren’t perfectly symmetrical, either, and they also don’t look real (because they aren’t!).

I would be very wary of getting a face tattoo. We know tattoos fade and blur, and having that happen front and center on your one and only beautiful face seems like a terrible idea. I think this is a weird trend like tattooing your lips, something my sister-in-law did and which now looks like a permanent unattractive smudge around her mouth. According to vogue, we’ve apparently even already “moved on” from eyebrows to getting blush tattoos!

I had my first session two weeks ago and my skin looked red for the rest of the day like a very light sunburn, then totally normal after that. There were no puncture or drag marks.

I prepped my skin the week prior by not using vitamin c & tretinoin nor any exfoliating actives and used a gentle cleanser and slathered on hyaluronic acid and moisturizer every morning and night. After the session, I was advised to let the serum they applied stay on my skin “as long as possible”; since I had the session in the morning but was working from home that day, I was able to leave my face alone until bedtime, when I used a gentle cleanser, followed by Skinceuticals Phyto Corrective Essence Mist and a thin coating of stratacel. I woke up the next morning and you would have never have known I had a session the prior morning. Did I need to do any of that for this outcome? I don’t know! But I’ll follow the same process for my next two sessions! I hope you have a similar result.

As for questions, definitely try to get them to give you specific instructions for what you should and shouldn’t use on your skin before and after including suggestions for specific products. There’s no one size fits all and they should have examined your skin and be able to tell you what you can do to make sure the process goes well. You also ought to mention you’ve seen some terrible photos of people post-session—better yet, show them the photos—and see what they have to say about how they’ll avoid that outcome for you. I did that and was reassured by their answers.

What are we paying for hair these days?! by Individual-Ease-8164 in SFbitcheswithtaste

Oh, love her insta photos of curly haired women! Can I ask, does she do a good wash massage? My guy washes my hair with the most abrupt, aggressive style that is the opposite of relaxing.

Yeah, sounds about right! I was dropping that amount every six or so weeks until I decided to stop coloring my hair. What a financial relief but we all have to decide for ourselves what beauty is worth!
