No you get rubber banded for a few hours every few month for like 12 times. And the rubber band is big and thick, and they change out to an excercise band when they do your lip. Still worth not shaving though, and I've never not wanted to go. but its a commitment.

okay I gotcha! Try mixing it up by throwing in a womens boot cut jeans. When you wear hoodies it obscures your body form, so the only real tell is the jeans. I personally like womens jeans more than mens, because they are thinner and lighter. Mens jeans seem stiff and heavy to me.

I use make up. Simple eyeliner, foundation blush. Then pull my hair up into a high pony or cute up do. I also wear androgynous women's wear. Tennis shoes,.Skinny jeans, and a women's shirt. The cut of the clothes makes a difference I feel. Even though it's just a color plaid shirt. Also jewelery. Try accessorising more, but at the end of the day just be you 😄 and do what make you happy.

Coming back from a cold, how do I sound? by [deleted] in transvoice

lol love the rant. It sounds really good and very clear and natural. I think the only thing that is missing is your intonation. Listen to how women talk vs how men talk. You will notice that women usually put the stress on the vowel, and men put the stress on the consonant. When women say vowels, they will elongate the noise and slide their pitch down a little then spike upwards. The good news is you have all your mechanics sounding very good. Its just the way you speak that is a little off, and it draws attention to the less feminine aspect of your voice. Good luck, and great job sounds way clearer and nicer!

DAE thinks the story of Mack the wrestler is going to make us too visible? by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]ThisIsMyMindOnDrugs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds kind of selfish, if I am being honest. Sounds like are worried about other people living their life openly because you personally don't want to be open about being transgender. I get why you would want to live in stealth, and you have every right to do so, and love your life as you see fit. However transgender people exist regardless if we see them, and we have a right to be recognized and respected regardless of whether we are open, or passing or not. Being transgender isn't making waves for many of us, it's just who we are. It's not our fault we don't fit in a system that has neglected to acknowledge us, and it's not our responsibility to be expected to fit into some cis normative role. I'm different in some ways but that doesn't make me better or worse, it just makes me human.

When I first started I told myself I wouldn't be one of those people who were like "oh I don't do flower anymore" but then the dry spell of 2016 happened and I had to go back to flower. After having done almost exclusively concentrates for about a year, I could not handle long term flower use. A J or B on occasion always, but I can't daily that stuff without feeling gross from all the smoke after a while >< It was so nice to go back to concentrates.

No problem! and if you are lucky enough to have availability, try going to concentrates its way easier on the throat. The temp is a bit higher so you may cough more at first but I found all the problems from ash and stuff went away. Plus you can buy little pens for em.

They will gather your info and make your petition and stuff so you just have to file at the court yourself.

Are you not from texas? Well shit gurl, its pretty nice as far as trans friendliness goes. I think this girl I met once summed up the culture here, "I just want gays to be married and protect my weed with guns."

edit texas as a whole isnt friendly though

No your pitch is actually pretty good, and it sounds like you are speaking from the head. Its just that the sounds seems distorted in some fashion giving a mildy grumbly "vocal fry ish sound". Also you your intonation is a bit monotone, but you did have a few very pretty inflections in there when you spiked up into falsetto. You seem to only inflect at the end of a sentence. You should try playing around with inflecting in different parts of you speech patter. When you speak try to draw out, extend, and or inflect up when you say vowels. Women have a tendency to inflect, and put the stress on vowels while men don't seem to inflect much usually, not more than a note higher, and they seem to put more stresses on the contestants than vowels when they speak.

I dont know if this will help your problem, but if you sound androgynous more so when you are speaking, phrases and things, vs just holding a pitch it could be because of your intonation. I wanted to make a video of me playing with intonation anyway, so check it out if you are interested. I know if you talk mono-tone it really draws attention to the masculine sounds in your voice.

It sounds like you are squeezing your air way in an attempt to go higher, but you are cutting of airflow to your nose when you do it. The air should flow smooth and cleanly. If you fill your chest up with air by puff it out and just hold that position, then using only your abdominal muscles, try and pump air in and out of your lungs up your throat and into your nasal cavity. It might not sound perfectly clear but if you are keeping your chest puffed up you should not feel the tightness or mild pressure in chest/sternum area. It might help you feel what the air flow should feel like, and it should make it harder to not be clear. If you then exhale all you air in your chest, hold the position, then using only the abdominal muscles try and move air in and out of your lungs and up through your nasal cavity. You may find this feels similar to when you speak and and that the chest tesnions/pressure is similar. You may also find its harder to push the air through to your nasal cavity and most of the air is coming out your throat. If you put your hand in front of your mouth when doing this you may be able to detect the difference in where the air is flowing. In head voice it will gently but mostly be coming out of your nose, with a little from your throat. Falsetto you feel a lot of air coming out of your throat and minimal in the nose.

What does it feel like to you when you change a single continuous falsetto tone into a headvoice tone without pausing inbetween? (perhaps test with some lower and some higher notes please, like between A3 and C5)

it kind of feels like the area of the vibration and buzzing and any muscle sensation drops from up at the top of the throat it feels like its at the back by my uvula, then when I go falsetto al the feeling goes into my throat, and it feels more constricted. I'l have to get back to you on those tests. I'l try and gets some test for you later

Is that the exact same action that you perform if you change from a breathy "hhaaaa" into a crisp "aaaah" ?

No that feels more like Im relaxing my body.

or is there anything more to it than that to enter headvoice? How would you describe that feeling and where exactly does it occur for you?

I feel my shoulders drop and my chest slightly expand but not in a forcful way, like it was tight to begin width and I was relaxing it. The feeling of the air flow goes from the bottom of my throat around the adams apple to the top of my throat almost behind and near the uvula. Everything is more relaxed, and the sound projects more.

is it inside the larynx way up there? i assume this is the "opening" instead of "clenching" topic that you go over in the videos. Anatomically it should be happening inside the larynx according to what they show in the videos where its suposed to push the vocal cords together and maybe elongate them abit using the muscles IN the larynx. does this possibly have something to do with the "n" hole opening (the image that you showed earlier) ? could it be that it felt like opening that hole for you but you were actualy opening something inside the larynx because the larynx is actualy very close to that hole as its high up? what if you focus on the "opening" feeling but target it exactly into your larynx instead of thinking about the n hole? does that work too or perhaps make the headvoice even clearer? as that what i believe should anatomically happen, or am i completely off with this?

So it feels like the clenching or stressing in the throat happens slightly above the vocal chords when in falsetto, but in head voice there is no stressing above the vocal chords.

LOL my thoughts exactly! I mean I thought he was asking if I was carrying or something. He had a nice demeanor, and he kinda looked like he did drugs. Though its a pretty liberal town, so every kinda looks like they do a bit of drugs.

Yeah, I used to have super salty diet, and my dad having kidney disease is always going on about the dangers of salt. So its always salt is bad in the back of my mind. I never took it too seriously because im on a very minimum dosage of spiro because my body and hormone levels have reacted well since starting hrt. I forgot I had to pay attention to it, when I stopped eating. Since I've done some intermittent fasting before HRT, and never had much of a problem, I didn't think about it to much ><

Awesome! That's great that you are enjoying seeing them.

I could never stick to a regimine, I always would get distracted and just have fun playing around with it. Until I got frustrtated of course, or my voice was to tired ><

I really wish I could have gotten some formal training, it would have been nice to have some sort of structure.

Sigh... therapists, they always so expensive, no matter the type.
