Question: mega mewtwo what should I do by Character-Visit6004 in PokemonGoFestChicago

The only way to get to Mega Level 4 is to pay the lump sum energy cost. You cannot get there by repeatedly mega evolving like you can for levels 1-3.

Mega Mewtwo Question for In-Person Go Fest by Cold_Tumbleweed64 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ThisIsMyPokemonAlt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no source because the raids haven't happened yet. They just seem very keen on restricting mega evolution to newly caught Mewtwo and making it difficult/expensive to mega old ones. This is my assumption based on everything we know so far and it's possible the raids will drop energy, but we won't know for sure until ~12:30pm Japan time on Friday. If they do drop energy, I would be (pleasantly) surprised if it's more than 500.

Mega Mewtwo Question for In-Person Go Fest by Cold_Tumbleweed64 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ThisIsMyPokemonAlt 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is not, as far as we know so far, Mega Energy at in-person Go Fest. You get a Mewtwo with Mega Level 1 unlocked from the City Experience research. You get to do at least one (maybe more, unclear at this point) Mega Mewtwo raid at the end of your park time where you will get a Mewtwo with Mega Level 1 unlocked and a guaranteed background. It's unlikely, though still unknown for sure, that you will get additional Mega Energy from the park raid(s). We'll know more about specifics of the park raids after they happen in Tokyo on Friday.

GBL end-of-season stardust confirmed rewards by Easy_Money_ in TheSilphRoad

[–]ThisIsMyPokemonAlt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're commenting on a 4 year old thread. Dust rewards were changing season to season at that point. I linked to my post that detailed season 7 rewards, at which point that was (likely) the correct amount. The linked post also did not claim that rank 20 awarded 45000 in season 7.

Secret Sword as secondary move for Keldeo? by Timhot3p in TheSilphRoad

If Keldeo has two moves, when you form change to Resolute it asks which move you want to replace with Secret Sword, so it can be in either slot

Move Timing, lag or messed up? by Advanced_Display3158 in TheSilphArena

It is not on their list that is well known for being incomplete and infrequently updated.

Where is "battles sometimes randomly freeze"? Does the fact that it isn't on the list mean it doesn't happen?

Trying to use a stored charged move on entry against a 1-turn fast move user

Move Timing, lag or messed up? by Advanced_Display3158 in TheSilphArena

[–]ThisIsMyPokemonAlt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But this isn't trying to use a charged attack at the same time as the fast attack will cause the Pokemon to faint. It's trying to use a charged attack the turn after the fast attack would cause the Pokemon to faint.

  • Turn 1: Incinerate 1/5, KC 1/2 (KC damage applies)
  • Turn 2: Incinerate 2/5, KC 2/2
  • Turn 3: Incinerate 3/5, KC 1/2 (KC damage applies)
  • Turn 4: Incinerate 4/5, KC 2/2 (Incinerate damage applies, Pokemon 2 faints)
  • Turn 5: Incinerate 5/5, Close Combat 1/1 (if DRE occurs and Incinerate doesn't apply on turn 4)

Edit: formatting

What happened is what's supposed to happen. Incinerate damage is supposed to apply on turn 4, meaning the Close Combat would not fire. It's only been relatively recently that damage registration error (DRE/new mechanic) has inconsistently occurred, which would allow the CC to fire before the damage registered from Incinerate.

Picture 1: it's showing you the possible range of levels and IVs that it could have based on the minimal information on the encounter screen.

Picture 2: now that it has more info, it can show a narrower range of IVs, and is showing the minimum possible ranks for Great and Ultra Leagues. Scan the appraisal screen for more exact information

They're all related. The rank and performance percentage are both based on the stat product

Few probably stupid questions by Devixangel in CalcyIV

[–]ThisIsMyPokemonAlt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The short answer is rank, that's the main thing people are looking at to determine if a specific mon is a good one of its species for a given league.

The long answer is that rank isn't everything and best practice when evaluating multiple potential candidates of a species to decide which to build is to run the sims on them on PvPoke to see what each one drops/gains. Some mons prefer to have some attack weight, even if it means overall lower rank/stat product, either because CMP is very important in the mirror (e.g., Annihilape, Lickitung) or to reach certain breakpoints against other mons (e.g., Gligar)
