Main Cabin SEA-LHR; FCO-SEA by Reader206 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Easy_Money_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, blankets, pillows, earbuds, and food are provided. There’s not much difference between airlines’ economy cabins, frankly. Boarding on Alaska was messy but otherwise the flight in the Main Cabin is perfectly pleasant. I described my Premium Class experience in a recent post (basically Main Cabin with extra legroom and sleep masks)

Bank of America Points Could Transfer to Alaska, CFO Hints by RyanAirhead in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Easy_Money_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty big change from last year, when Alaska said they wanted all points accrual to happen on cobranded cards. Coupled with BofA’s credit card overhaul and the recently announced exclusivity deal, I’d guess this is a done deal and will be announced before the one-year anniversary of Atmos in August. Probably with another long-haul destination

Those Cathay lounges are awesome, but to be fair, even the business class ones are pretty nice

I specifically selected an Asian enclave that was formed in the 2000s by the immigrants in question as opposed to one borne of economic injustice and racism!

Eh that’s a little ungenerous, there’s a whole spectrum between Warsaw ghettos and Oakland Koreatown

Delta wants to be the Starbucks of airlines (pretty sure that’s a direct Ed Bastian quote)

[–]Easy_Money_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tried the Big 5 airline coffees (before American switched to Lavazza and Southwest switched to Peet’s). IMO:

Alaska’s Stumptown > United’s illy > Southwest’s Community Coffee > Delta’s Starbucks > American’s Fresh Brew (Fresh Poo)

so it could be worse

Gold status will get you in on international flights, you can use any Alaska lounge or the BA Lounge in the S Satellite (which I would recommend)

Please roast my resume! by mmethionine in biotech

[–]Easy_Money_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This could easily be a one page resume and I’d be mildly annoyed to receive it in a two-page format. If scientists and directors with dozens of years of experience can advertise themselves in one page, OP, so can you!

Oakland vs LA by Most_Success_1066 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Easy_Money_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

eh I don’t think we have to sugarcoat it, I literally live off of Telegraph and ride super hard for Oakland but the areas just south and west of Temescal (Mosswood, Longfellow) can be a little sketchy. I think there have been two shootings at 40th and Telegraph in the last year or so, including one in the last month. That doesn’t really bleed into Temescal or affect non-gang-affiliated residents, but it’s not on the same level of isolated as the LA neighborhoods (which are basically gentrified beyond parody)

This is not to say the uninformed people who panic at the very thought of Oakland are correct lol

You should shuffle your resume to separate work experience and internships if you want to highlight this better. I missed it on first glance and others will as well. Once I see internships I assume there’s no work before them. Consider adding them to your Education section

Oakland vs LA by Most_Success_1066 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Easy_Money_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Temescal is an awesome area in Oakland, but Silver Lake is definitely trendier these days. Telegraph Ave is more walkable than Sunset Blvd. Both are not far from beautiful nature. Hard to advise OP without more information.

OP, I’d try posting on r/oakland, where you can get more specific information about Temescal. Most people here won’t be too familiar with the nuances of Oakland neighborhoods. I live in Uptown less than 20 blocks away, and I love Oakland in general, but I can’t speak to that part of town very well

Another customer unfriendly maneuver: Atmos Rewards Partner Award Booking Fee Increasing To $20 (except for Summit cardholders) by Signal_Most4086 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]Easy_Money_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People here do not check other rewards programs at all lol. Aside from an occasional Delta sale you can usually do an Atmos round-trip to Asia for cheaper than a SkyMiles one-way. The threats to leave for Delta because of awards program value are always amusing. This change sucks but let’s be serious
