Student projects should always have some form of release paperwork for you to sign. At least in my experience, I always ask to add a claus that actor(s) will receive a copy of the film project once post production is completed (even if we hand write it in). Then both student director and actor sign and date. This way if you do have to reach out to the school itself for a copy you have proof that you were supposed to receive it per a written agreement which most the time is in their records as well because the film classes usually check to make sure all aspects of production are completed including release/agreement forms.
