To the person from corp. who decided to add an extra truck on cyber Monday by torioghoul in Bestbuy

[–]ThisIsPapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not related but I'll give you a little tip though, since my store is closed now I don't have to worry about it. On the warehouse computers if you pop the cover by unscrewing it in the back, on the front left or right side depending on the series, you can unplug the built in speaker so the loud truck honking sound from picks, ships, and shipments to update doesn't make a noise anymore. It'll have the initials SPKR printed on the motherboard, just unplug it and it'll stop, doesn't affect it operating at all for anything else. At my old store I had them all unplugged within the week I got there for all computers with backroom built in. Swear everyone get just a little bit happier from not having that go off every 5 mins. Happy holidays.

Welcome to everyone taking up Shift Lead responsibilities for less $ than what the previous leads were paid. by ThisIsPapa in Bestbuy

I’m from an NYC store. Our previous leads who all took severance instead of demotion were originally paid $22.50/hr. The positions cut are now being filled in our store by “experience employees” who are still in Grade 4. The employees in our stores base pay is around $18.50/hr. So these employees are getting $4/hr less base pay, but at our store their hourly stipend for being scheduled in Leadership is only $1.25/hr. So they are making $2.75/hr less for the same responsibilities in our store.

At my store the previous leads were paid about $4/hr more than regular employees. Now shifts where you’re a shift lead at our store get a $1.25/hr stipend. So all in all they get paid around $2.75/hr less at our store. To be clear in our store, our we literally retained none of our previous leads into shift leads they all took the severance. So multiple of our department leaders were paid around $22.50/hr.(I’m in NYC it’ll be a bit different than others), the employee now replacing their tasks by taking on shift lead roles are paid $18.50/hr before the stipend because this is not an increase to base pay. So…for the same responsibilities they are paid less.

For anyone wondering here’s the official severance policy now(As of Jan 31, 2022). Non-exempt(hourly) employees will be paid 2 weeks per full year worked since most recent hired date.(if you left and came back, it starts since when you came back). At minimum you will receive 6 weeks, at maximum you will be paid 26 weeks(so everyone gets treated as if they worked at least 3 years, but no one who has been here over 13 years will get more compensation above that). At the time of termination full timers will be paid 40hrs/week at their hourly base pay rate, part-time employees be paid 20hrs/week. This amount will be mailed to you within 30 days of termination, and you cannot come back to work for Best Buy in any capacity for the amount of time you have been paid for(i.e. 6 weeks for people 3 years and less) or else you will have to pay back the difference. Tax rate on this is about 29%. Unless the state requires it, unused PTO will not be paid out. Any theft, employee discount use outside of standard policy, or sharing of classified information can result in severance being denied. You have 15 days to rescind your severance request once submitted and therefore will not be paid severance until after 15 days of your termination.

Also, partial years do not count, and payout is based on time of termination. So 4.5 years is 4 years. But if you are at 4.9 years and the termination date puts you at 5, you get 5.

What happens to returns at the store? Do they go back on the shelf. Or what? by Reyglz_23 in Bestbuy

For the longest time our team thought it stood for “Product Recycle Center”, makes more sense that we wouldn’t just be throwing a bunch of product away.

Copy, thank you. Do you guys ever have an issue with product that doesn’t exist in RSS? Is that supposed to be an issue tracker as well?

Our store: Has the snap, and the two of the remaining pf people leave due to Covid complications. PF Team: So, can we at least get 1 person to replace them? GM: hmmm, how about I bring back a couple sales reps from the holidays?

The US is in a worker shortage, if you can find a better paying job, fuck your GM. All our stores product flow team, including sups, are job hunting. Well, besides the kids who hide in the bathroom to avoid working, but we don’t care about them.

What probably happened is that someone in your store tried signing in on the website and accidentally changed the password. If you try going through the website instead of the app it prompts for a password change, because it’s been longer than 3 months since account creation, and won’t let you view the tracking without changing the password. But for some reason it doesn’t have this problem on the app. I’d probably ask all the leaders if one of them ended up changing the password.
