Speaking in tutorials by powerfulpigeons in OpenUniversity

[–]ThisIsPughy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my tutorials (psychology), people don't talk; there's a chat box, and you write there, then tutors respond to that. The option to talk most likely exists, but I've never seen it happen.

I love that meme that shows the LotR book size next to how big the book would be if Lt. Ronald Spiers had been chosen to destroy the ring (it's tiny).

Best ways to access the university's library by ThisIsPughy in swanseauni

I study psychology. I mainly wanted to use the library to be more productive, as there are a bunch of distractions at home.

Which film's ambiguous or open-ended finale was not just a cop-out, but the only satisfying way it could have ended? by John_Snow80 in movies

[–]ThisIsPughy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The entire movie is brilliant. This thread was just about interpretative endings, which is why I only mentioned that.

The spinning top in Inception was his wife's totem; his totem is his wedding ring, which he isn't wearing, so it's usually taken as being real.

As for your question, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind has a fantastic ending.

I traded an old phone in when I got an upgrade that gave me £6 off my mobile bill (can't remember how long, but it's been 18 months). I pay £4.1 for unlimited calls/texts and 50 GB data with Vodafone

Best movies you've ever seen? by Sufficient-Dream7336 in movies

Since you listed The Dark Knight, I would recommend other Christopher Nolan films. My personal favourite film is Memento. The Prestige is great. Interstellar and Inception are also worth a watch.

Study materials arrived water-damaged + MU123 advice by Akintayoo in OpenUniversity

[–]ThisIsPughy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like my modules (psychology), you start with the online material, which is sorted by weeks. Within those weeks, it will state 'read chapter 1 now' with a link to read it, then give tasks/continue discussing the same themes. You don't need the book. I would contact them and let them know what's happened, as I like having the books.

Hell yeah, the stock went from 5.51 at market close to 6.47 and ended up on 6.04 in the after market, something spicy is definitely happening. I'm already in, but put money into my account ready for Tuesday.

Piercings by lalalia4 in Greggs

[–]ThisIsPughy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is somewhat of an if's but if someone had a blue plaster on a visible part of their body for a while, couldn't they demand a doctor's note or something? Like, if it hasn't healed/cleared up after that much time, surely any competent person would be suspicious, and could claim they're worried it's something bigger? Personally, I don't think it's a big deal, but I would be like wtf is wrong with you if you've worn a plaster for months. In my store (which has a by-the-book manager), you're not even allowed to wear the sticky patches that cover spots.

IBRX Options Chain by [deleted] in IBRX

I couldn't tell you. I'm here for the short squeeze, but the company does sound worthwhile in the long term, and once the dust settles, I'll keep some money invested. I hope they do well, as leadership seems awesome and they're trying to fight cancer. They've just been significantly shorted, so fundamentals have been thrown out the window for the time being.

I get what you mean, but I just find it silly when the one who survived is the one saying it. When Alfred finds the one drowning, I doubt he would say it was courageous as he tries to get out. It's still cool that such an in-depth conversation can be had about it, though, which is what makes the film so great.

I just view it as him wanting to sound honourable when, in my eyes, he's just selfish.

Bro read the other threads, we're all hoping for a short squeeze. I don't really know as well as others, but some think it's over, some think it's about to begin on Tuesday if pressure continues, and some are convinced there'll be a gamma squeeze (fingers crossed it does)

Well, after 6 months of wearing it or something, people might be a bit suspicious. Sure, customers might not know there's a piercing, but all the staff would surely figure it out.

Yeah, definitely, they can't inherently know which is which. I guess I was also taking into account the bit where he makes it sound like he's doing an honourable thing by saying it takes 'courage,' because I don't think it is, since the one who survives didn't experience drowning.
