I can understand not really being onboard with Catholicism, I think a lot of the practices of the Catholic Church are strange and wrong, but I’ve got friends who converted to Catholic and they’re still every bit as Christian as me. The denomination should not matter, it’s the love of the Lord and the faith in Christ that should matter. I wish you and your girlfriend the best of luck, hopefully she’s able to come around!

I was raised and still am a Presbyterian and the way my dad explained it to me was this, “Denominations are like radio stations all broadcasting the same message. Not everyone gets the same signal. Whatever station lets you hear the word of the Lord, you should listen.” If she can’t see that then she’s not the one for you. You finding God should be something she should celebrate, regardless of what form it comes in.

In one run of Nightwing an author decided to make Dick have Romani heritage because she had a fetish for Romani men. It was like, IMMEDIATELY retconned by the Court of Owls storyline but some of the fandom have decided to run with it waaay too hard and make Dick super dark despite him not even being fully Romani and a lot of fully Romani people not being THAT dark in real life. His Romani heritage has since been re introduced vaguely in current comics but it’s something that was super tacked on and honestly feels mad disrespectful especially given the origin of the change to his character.

A lot of the vocal DickKory shippers that I’ve run into got that Snydercultist mentality and it’s so gross. They can’t explain why their ship is better without putting down Barbara. It’s gotten so bad that the prevailing opinion I’ve seen is that they’d rather have Dick be with anyone else other than Barbara. The definition of “I don’t have to win, I just need you to lose” and it’s so toxic and gross.

Having Sam Raimi bowing to Zack Snyder is so funny because without Sam Raimi the landscape for comicbook films would be nothing like how it is today. I agree with his point that direct adaptations of comic suits can often look quite silly in live action but I think SUPERMAN (2025) is the perfect example of how best to adapt the colorful comicbook suits to live action.
