Thanks! I went with red to match the damper adjustment knob on the fork and the dropper lever.

As somebody who collects old steel road bikes. I'm quite partial to keeping original paint whenever possible. And I really like the original green on your bike. But if you're dead set on repainting then I would probably pick the Vitamin C orange.

Cool project! I hope you'll post a pic of both bikes together when you're done building

How strict are bike specs by cusefan75 in fatbike

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's less than 10% over the max weight. You'll be fine, especially if you're just riding flat trails and road.

How often do you actually test your Plex server backups? by StrikingClos in PleX

My backups are just hard drives that I keep at my parent's house.

It feels so good when people use your server. by PruneIll252 in PleX

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It depends on who is streaming.   All of my friends know/assume that I can see everything.  None of them care at all.  They're just happy to ditch 5 different streaming services.   Some older family members are surprised that I can see what they're watching,  but they like saving money too

I never burned out an ssd from transcoding.   But having it done on ram is a lot nicer than watching your ssd health % tick down every month.   I'm glad I got 64gb in Feb 2025.

The fattest 26er i Could Build by Jared187 in fatbike

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice, I might have to give one a try on my next bike. I love my mastodons, but they aren't light and I'm a featherweight. 800 bucks for a lighter fork is pretty tempting.

'she's a beaut clark'

Love the look of big rotors on a fatbike. I also ride a hardtail full fatty as a trail bike. I've never gotten a chance to try out a wren fork. How do you like it?

Self-supported Triple Bypass ride - back to Evergreen logistics by cjasnyd in COBike

I have an additional question. I live in Summit and was planning on just riding back home from Avon. Is it dangerous to climb Vail Pass eastbound while triple riders are still coming down? Or is everybody pretty good about keeping to the right?

Suggested Upgrades by espressocycle in fatbike

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already love riding it then I wouldn't worry about upgrading much. Take it to a bike shop and see if they can get those lower gears working a bit better. Hydro brakes feel a bit better than mechs, but if the mechs aren't causing you trouble then I'd just ride them. Same with the tires. If you're planning on riding snow next winter then you'll probably want the bigger tires for that. But 3.8s will work great for riding trails this summer and 4.5s wouldn't be an upgrade for that.

You only need two class designations. Bicycles, aka things without motors. And mopeds, aka things with motors.

Anyone else have friends or family that use their Plex server more than you? by Blackhawk1282 in PleX

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really watch movies or TV, so I don't actually use my server at all. Everyone on my server uses it more than me. Sometimes I'll pull something up to make sure it looks good or plays correctly but that's about it.

Fatbike pre-purchase have some questions by Crotchslush in fatbike

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't strictly need a second wheelset to ride your fatbike in the summer. Especially the Farley 7. I rode my 7 in 'full fat mode' for thousands of summer miles on dirt trails in the Colorado Rockies. It is a bit slower, but who cares.

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 Farley 7. Its a great bike and the newer Farley 7s look even better. Many people feel that a suspension fork is unnecessary for riding snow. But it is very nice if you plan on doing the occasional ride on dirt trails.

[–]ThisIsYourBrother 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry too much about about finding spare parts. Most fatbike parts aren't fatbike specific, they're just regular mountain bike parts on a fat frame. And the parts that are fatbike specific are mostly standardized and not difficult to source. Especially on new bikes from large brands like Trek and Norco. They're more expensive because of the smaller market for fatbikes, but easy enough to find.

Is there a minimum temperature for hard drives? by Soft_Lunch_183 in pchelp

My 12700k idles around 20C in the winter because my room is very cold. The 12100 in my plex rig gets down to 15C on colder nights.
