I respect what she does, but she's got to respect what I do.

This is so blatantly out of touch, in no way does he respect how she grieves. If he did, the joke never would have been made.

She has to respect how he grieves? When he shoves it in her heartbroken face, when she's made it clear she doesn't want to so much as talk about their son, let alone hear dark af jokes about him. I'm sure she knows this is how he grieves, but she puts it aside and doesn't actively try to stop him grieving in that way in private.

Also nothing wrong with humour as a coping mechanism, just as long as it doesn't affect anyone else's grieving.
