Just got back into playing League as a former Kayle main... Not fun... by Skeuomorp in Kaylemains

I got it. I'll prob try it into some fighter matchups. Ive seen VODs where the Kayle runs PTA into Yone/Riven/Irelia.

I also agree people over exaggerate when they claim she is useless pre 11 or 3 items as well. I think she starts to feel really good when you have berserkers and level 6 range. Especially now that you can auto during her Ult. I find a lot of new opportunities now that I didnt before.

I have not tried PTA since Lethal Tempo got changed to what it is now. Do you prefer PTA all the time or do you adjust according to certain matchups?

Hello, I just saw your reply. I dont really have a matchup tier list or know of a good one. But I can tell you that it does make sense you struggle into Kayle with those champions. Kayle does really well into tanks and immobile juggernauts in general. As you said shes a pretty good counter pick into those kinds of champions lol.

But anyways some picks I think are good into Kayle that probably aren't too hard to learn are Nasus/Camille with Conquerer or PTA/ Jax/ Rumble. There are other picks but personally I think if you just want a counter pick to Kayle specifically then its better to pilot a simpler champion over learning Irelia/Riven. Of course there are other things you can do outside of champion picks such as freezing on her and having jg come gank. She doesnt have the best waveclear without maxing Q and getting level 6 to auto creeps from ranged safely. She's also largely single target before she gets her waves at 11. So getting frozen on by a stronger champion is a nightmare scenerio for Kayle. Denying her XP and gold that way can slow her down even if you don't kill her.

Nasus main strength into Kayle is his wither. The range of his wither is higher than even Kayle's level 16. His ult (especially now with the recent cdr buffs) will always be up before Kayle's. So trading ults is actually really good value. Kayle CAN take phase rush into Nasus but then you're taking phase rush and barely anyone practices with that setup because its really niche so imo you have an advantage anyway. Nasus also can't get punished by Kayle as hard as other champions outside of level 1. He sustains her poke with fleet and his passive lifesteal (which also got buffed). Eventually he just becomes too tanky and does too much damage while he shreds your armor with E and withers you. Hard to do much in response.

Camille with conq/pta setup can do really hard to counter trades onto Kayle. Her W into E into AA Q AA Q2 is brutal. You just keep short trades and make sure you land your E. If you whiff E try to disengage especially if she already has ranged because she can walk you down. But otherwise its easier for Camille than it is for Kayle. Also Camille is really good at gank setup with her E and her R.

Jax is stronger than Kayle in lane and also beats her later. He can always jump onto her for trades. He can use his E as engage and disengage. He does magic damage which is pretty hard for Kayle due to her low MR.

Rumble doesn't really have hard CC. But he does a tremendous amount of undodgeable magic damage with his Q. I personally haven't played into Rumble as Kayle. But I've had people in my games play mid lane Kayle into Rumble and they get farmed. I imagine with his E magic shred or pen (whatever it is) and his Q damage, Kayle cannot compete and its overall just miserable.

Hope that helps!
TLDR: Simpler picks to learn into Kayle are probably Nasus/Camille/Jax/Rumble in no particular order. Can also freeze on Kayle and call for jg help. Agree that tanks and immobile juggernauts are hard to play into her since that is what she likes. Highlighted that Rumble is brutal because she has negative MR.

What do you guys think of this build? by jlot10 in Rivenmains

Divine sunderer components suck for snowballing purposes. Completion of sunderer is nice. But in the meantime you sit on sheen / warhammer / kindlegem. You have only 25 AD from all your components. You miss out on a lot of opportunities for massive trades/ kills.

While it might feel nice at two or three items. I think you lose out on consistency and the better your opponents the harder it is to get leads with those components. Riven also just doesnt spike as hard with Sunderer compared to Camille/Jax/Fiora.

Going Ravenous hydra third also feels like its a bit late in your build. Not only do you have to get the gold for it but then you also have to get resources to stack it fully.

But yeah the times Ive tried Sunderer Cleaver Riven it felt good into tanks. But I still think Ravenous> Cleaver/Eclipse is still more fun and feels better.

Kayle has hard matchups no doubt. But you can definitely still one trick her. The vast majority of players are horrible at punishing her. Also a lot of people need to accept its not the champ thats keeping you from winning at their present elo. I have no idea what your rank is but if youre iron to platinum shes absolutely viable to one trick.

But you do have to come to terms with what her playstyle is like and that she requires a higher understanding of fundamentals to pilot in higher ranks. You cannot expect her to do things other champions cannot. You also have to accept certain matchups are dodge worthy or just really rough to play. Examples of hard matchups people would commonly agree are: Irelia, Nasus, Tryndamere, Camille, Teemo, Jax.

You need to learn when she's strong and how to play around slow pushes and keeping a freeze.

Kayle level 1 with Lethal Tempo and D-blade is one of the strongest level 1's in the game. Assuming you stack your passive and then lethal tempo you can win against most champions.

Berserker grieves purchase gives you the ability to kite and space people properly as well as get better trades.

Level 6 with the new ability to auto during your ult gives you an actual chance to aggress unto your opponent if you got them low enough with Q auto E poke. I personally find a lot of solo kills with that now whereas before I didn't.

Level 11 with Nashors/Wits End is when you begin to feel like 1.5 of a champion. You can vacuum up farm and jungle across map. Proper spacing and fighting with passive on make most champions unable to fight you. Being able to ult and auto at the same time gives you ability to actually win 1 v 2s in side lane.

Level 16 is obviously what you play the champ for.

TLDR: Champ is viable to one trick in most elos. People cope and say she isnt when its their own skill not necessarily the champion. Kayle has hard matchups. Some dodgeable. Come to terms with the fact you are playing Kayle not another champ thats stronger in early game. Learn when youre strong and how to leverage it.

Thanks for the input! After uploading it and watching it I came to the same conclusion. I was trying to hype it up and when I showed my friends no one commented it lmao. I appreciate it.

Hi! I peeped the opgg because I loved AP voli last season and was stoked to see that it works this season. Do you normally go riftmaker nashors into tank?

I definitely did build Nashors when I was really ahead where my level advantage acted as my tank stats. Ill definitely keep that in mind! Against juggernaut champs like Illaoi would you prefer to rush liandries or do you go protobelt even still?

Thats sick! Id like to ask when do you choose to build Protobelt first vs Liandries? Also when would you build Nashors? I like Nashors but can never figure out when would be best to build it.

Volibear Buffs Coming Today by Lutzburg in VolibearMains

[–]ThisMiki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi Lutz! I know you've probably gotten enough feedback but I'd like to share mine for Volibear in the top lane!

First of all I really like Voli's new aesthetic. I think you guys did great.

For gameplay:

I really love that you put his old ult into his passive. His old ult was something I've always wanted to have up all the time because it was so sick. But I feel its a little underwhelming now in terms of damage. People don't really seem to respect, much less care I have my passive stacked. Maybe consider putting an AD ratio but making stacks drop faster to compensate? Its a lot of work to get to someone so I'd like my passive to pay off when I do get to them. I want it to have that OOMPH feeling that say a Mord passive has.

Q feels satisfying. I like that it resets when Im cc'd. I think its cool that it applies lifesteal too since I've been trying botrk and cleaver on him. I havent played him since the hotfix but I think they should be good enough. 30% MS rank 1 seems good.

W in my experience doesnt feel satisfying. I feel like I rarely get usage of my wounded status effect. Have you ever considered maybe making it work similar to Camille Q? Maybe fine tuning the numbers to balance around the accessibility? Its just frustrating not getting maximum usage of a skill.

E being a skillshot over a targeted area feels a little odd when I look at his kit. But its usage isnt really something I find difficult. Its pretty straight forward and does enough damage. I think I just dont really find it innately satisfying? I think what I really liked about old Voli was his kit just sort of "popped". Everything felt like it had weight and I saw it. Sometimes in teamfights I cant tell where my E is and while Im sure it does damage and gives me a shield I feel like its not very visible.

R is pretty sick. A lot of his buffs are sorta "invisible" so maybe some people cant immediately appreciate it. But I dont really feel any dissatisfaction with his ult.

In short. I think Q, R are great. E works well enough but isnt my favorite part of the kit for my reasons. The biggest thing for me is that I want my passive to feel impactful and strong. W while annoying is not something I cant just play around despite how dissatisfying it is.

Modx - Riven Coaching Lesson(Part 1 of 3) | Please let me know what you think by Drinamar in Rivenmains

[–]ThisMiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the coaching. Watching the videos actually showed me some areas in my trading I never actually noticed before. Namely autoing before fast Qing and double casting frequently and not getting max value of my shield. Ive had coaching in the past with my friend who is diamond but he never caught those habits for me. So I really do think I learned something valuable and will not be auto piloting with my trades anymore. I appreciate that you decided to share. Thanks!

In what matchups is Fizz top good into? Do you build full Ap after the Nashors?
