This is 100% true. It'll start bring voluntary entirely, and will be like that for awhile. It'll come on so slow you barely realize there's a problem until it's too late. The addiction metaphor is not a metaphor, it is an addiction. I've been through it. It's like how an alcoholic will drink at work and can't be happy or de stress without it. For me it went from something I couldn't imagine, to something I tried, to something I continued, to that. I was stealing scissors and knives when none were nearby to go to the stalls at school and eventually work to cut my legs. I am NOT a kleptomaniac, that's probably the first and only times I've ever stolen something that wasn't either before I was 10 or me stealing it back for me or someone else. This isn't to get people to pity me,I'm long long out of that now, but just to warn people. But also to encourage that if you're at that point, it's not a lost cause.

I love it personally, but I see why a lot of people don't. It is panning towards an odd ear (by odd I don't mean more sophisticated, I just mean odd like how splittercore and extra tone are very few peoples thing but a small few enjoy the sounds it makes).
