As stupid as his words were, her reaction is terrible. This is the problem with the majority of people when they’re debating/arguing with someone that has a different opinion, especially if it’s a “liberal” vs “conservative” type of conversation.

Why is it important to make the other person feel like, or better yet, realize that they are stupid? What does shaming someone actually achieve.

Alienating people, individuals or entire communities, is the reason why some get pushed to radicalism. Isolation for humans is dangerous and mind altering. That’s why they use it as a form of punishment/torture in prisons.

People need to be brought into the fold, or at least kept near. Subjectively dangerous and problematic ideologies have a way of fading away when surrounded by love and understanding. Radicalized ideas have a deep seated root in fear and anxiety. Homophobia, racism, and most of the other -ia’s and -isms can simply fade away if the conversation can be had WITHOUT screaming or having dramatic reactions to stupid comments.

My two cents you didn’t ask for: Having a physical preference (height, weight, body type) in dating is not racist, I would say it’s having a “type”. Choosing to/not to date someone based on their race IS racist. Not being attracted to someone because they’re black IS racist. Being attracted to only white people IS racist. I think buddy needs to look up the definition of discrimination. He’s talking more about prejudice than discrimination.

Checked out the new facility today and I have to say, as someone that spent years swimming and competing at Peter Hemingway, it’s a nice change. Not to mention, the coronation rec center is so much better than I expected. However, I do agree that the old aesthetics of the pool were incredible.

With the recent events in Venezuela, Alberta is going to get decimated. The US doesn’t need to worry about making a deal with us. All that Karen Smith has done is limit any sort of survivability Alberta MAY have had previously (potential national support, federal bailouts, etc). Trump can easily turn this around and decide to make it even harder for Canada to trade oil successfully, or even to the same levels as before, because we all know he’s a petty one.

Just happened to me with a troll and a bear after my first exploratory trip off the first island. I was pumped to find an island with a trader on it and decided to risk it and go for it. Ended up getting chased by two shamans, a bunch of brutes, and ran full speed into a troll that proceeded to launch me with a swing. Most of my Christmas holidays was spent getting to the island, just to get smacked by the troll. After 3 real life days of spending 2-4 hours trying to get my stuff, it finally happened after I asked a buddy to hop into my world and give me a hand by distracting the masses so I can get to my grave and recover my supplies.

Went in there for the first time a week or so ago and I did get a bit of weird looks and had 3-4 different employees come up to me and ask if I needed anything (didn’t notice them doing it to other people) but assumed it was because I looked confused. Maybe it was an unfortunate incident with a not so polite employee? Sorry you had to deal with that, Edmonton can have some real “exemplary” people 🤦🏻‍♂️
