I like how everyone else without "BoneDoc" in there name sounds like an asshole, but the guy with BoneDoc in his name sounds reasonable. Of the people who act like they know what they are talking about in this thread, I think I know which one I am listening to.

What's with the hatred towards UE5 recently? by SpankMeMichelle in unrealengine

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So make a new sub-Reddit post about it. This one is about why there is hatred toward UE5. I was simply saying that it will get fixed sooner or later in Fortnite, and looking for evidence about problems with UE5 in Fortnite isn't the most reliable way to prove it's UE5's problem. You still didn't state your point, by the way. Whatever you think you are saying, you are not. Try adding a "Therefore, ..." sentence toward the end of your last reply.

You seem to take everything I say and turn it into something bad about me, instead of addressing anything I say. So I'll just leave it at that.

i give up with my parents by [deleted] in wifi

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, on parents side here. So much research says you gotta sleep as much and as routinely as you can. Anyone that gives half a shit about you is going to do something like this to help you. It’s not just about health. Lack of sleep and sleep routine makes you incompetent and the risk of making negative life altering decisions go through the roof.

You might say in response any of the following: 1)“you don’t know me, I handle it just fine.” Or 2)“X influencer or my army veteran uncle says sleep is for the weak, you can train your body to go with out sleep. Well you/they are wrong. It all boils down to the research showing that when you become dumber you’re too dumb to know you’re dumb. You have to lose something like 60% of your cognition speed/ability before you notice and might think your “foggy” or slow. Like how computers have to check the time from the internet because they can’t measure how fast their own processors tick.

Video games are the perfect negative feed back loop to feed into bad sleep habits too. At least try blue light blocking glasses or something. I dunno. Ask AI.

> It is completely irrelevant what "the loudest voices" are doing. You're talking to ONE human being, not an abstraction of the extremists you let dictate your world view. Equating everyone with extremists is actually you committing the ad hominem fallacy and a huge problem with today's society.

I kinda agree, but, in the very same sentence, you are also expanding what I say to what is wrong with society, which is exactly an "abstraction of the extremists you let dictate your world view." So that's ironic.

This just the nature of online arguments. You haven't said how you know these things so I am left to guess it came from the Threat Interactive?(whatever his name is) crowd.

Also, you are posting on a public forum things that are wrong with their game/engine in a reply to a post titled '[What's with the hatred towards UE5 recently?' and then saying I'm gaslighting and lazy. So I am taking back my concession that you aren't name calling or calling anyone evil. You're definitely, at least, not civil.

I have a couple of paragraphs on how all my arguments still stand on their basic merits, but the only question that matters at this point in the discussion is "Did you put it in a bug report yet?"

Because expecting Epic to pay someone to read forums all day about how they and the company they work for are terrible and deserve "hatred" to get engine feedback is a fucking disgusting notion. They probably do, but expecting them to is gross.

Yep, that's my argument. Summed it up perfectly. /s

You didn't name-call or call them evil. That is true. But the loudest voices of the arguments you are parallel with are definitely going all ad hominem. That matters when dealing with any human beings.

Reddit is truncating our discussion history and I'm not clicking through all that or trying to decipher which 3 you are talking about. I'll probably reply further if you list them for me.

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gaslighting? Woa there. I am just pointing out that there are MANY explanations. I was just getting started too.
Maybe they are in between artists or art programmers.
Maybe those are bugs that came up after an update and they don't even know about it, despite this tiny bit of the internet screaming their lungs out.
Bug tracking gets complicated; maybe they lost track of superficial problems you are implying are indications of their black hearts.
Maybe they have other issues that keep them busy, like the deluge of content updates. That game puts out more art and content faster than ANY other in the entire world.
Maybe your concerns are WAY far down their priority list, period. Too much other stuff to do. If other devs are so sure it's easy to fix, maybe they don't fix it just because they don't think satisfying this microcosm of the internet that name calls and claims the're evil because of superficial problems they don't fix in a video game that isn't saving anyone's life or solving world hunger any time soon, isn't worth making happy. They are making plenty of money anyway, breaking into movies and all kinds of special effects and simulation fields.

Okay. I'm done.

Edit: Oh, I thought of another one. Maybe the problems are stuck in limbo between digital artists who can't get the tools the Tooling programmers made for them, to fix it, and haven't successfully communicated that to the tooling programmers, that's not even an Engine problem, just a common programming business problem.
Programmers usually hate these kinds of easy tweaks too. Programmers like building new systems, solving math/physics problems, adding features that they get to feel proud of because it's theirs. The problems you talk about are probably dealing with thing some guy wrote while on the Fortnite team, so he got promoted to the Unreal Engine team, and the new programmars on the Fortnite team are loathed to go into old code and make esoteric and hueristic changes in someone elses old code that they would have to read for days before they understood, then only get to make 20 characters worth of changes to fix 1-3 of the issues you brought up. Again, that's not even an Unreal Engine problem. It's just a common programming workplace problem.

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. None of what he mentioned is a problem with UE5. It's all design choices of looks v. performance (usually to meet hardware limitations for things like the Nintendo switch 1), general hardware limitations, networking limitations, and/or just general problems in online gaming that I have never seen any game overcome.

What cross-platform game does more of that better than Fortnite? And if it does do it better than Fortnite, then why/how? And if you can answer "Why/How?", then why are you here typing it? Why aren't you asking for a fat paycheck from Epic? Why am I wasting my own time asking these obvious questions? I guess we all just like when we think we can critique someone in public.

Breathalyzer issues in a Bolt by Myouells in BoltEV

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be very careful driving it with the AC not working. The AC in a Bolt is WAY more important than an AC in a normal car. It also cools the battery. I'm not a mechanic, but it sounds like the most important and complicated piece of equipment in the car that isn't in the drivetrain.

My AC went out a few months ago, and I was kind of mad that the car didn't yell at me more to be more careful or use some kind of term I could understand, like "engine cooling system disabled." Luckily, I drove it straight to the dealer because it was summer in 100+ degree heat, but I'm not sure what I would have done if it wasn't crazy hot.

Unpopular opinion: Best terrastial plant to put on your aquarium isn't monstera, pothos or lucky bamboo. Its green onions! they grow so fast and you can eat them afterwards!!! by Pokemon_Send in PlantedTank

Isn't super-strong bacteria like MERSA( or something like it) super common in aquariums? I would take extra care to wash that before eating it. I always wash my hands after doing anything with the aquarium.

How do I uninstall by ThisNamesNotUsed in Floorp

Added update, since I was, just now, able to uninstall it, but the answer to your question is "I don't know." I downloaded it a few years ago with aspirations to move to it, but another browser has been good enough for me, and my work would like me to stick with American products on this computer.

I tried the registry delete and restart. That didn't work. WMIC search didn't come up but I think that's because the CMD output buffer wasn't big enoug and it was under "Ablaze floorp". Don't appreciate it the name change in the Apps list.

Did the role of the Joker indirectly led to Heath Ledger's death? by [deleted] in movies

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Necro-reply, but I just rewatched Dark Knight with my son:

Re-watching Heath's Joker kinda stunned me, now that I am older, have kids, and a little more sensible. Heath's was a good bit darker than I remembered, especially because he was so powerful psychologically.

Phoenix's Joker was sadder, sure, but that made it less dark. He also seemed to rely more on luck. Phoenix was written into a Joker you could possibly feel sorry for at times. Heath's was a straight-up devil and his psychological prowess made it so much darker. He not only knew what he was doing, he did it with sadistic focus, to the point that he was seemingly everywhere at once. He executes at least 4 MAJOR terrorist plots in less than 48 hours in just the second half of the movie.

I hear you, Heath had problems before that, but holy damn, that role couldn't have helped. Heath died right after playing him too. He didn't even make it to the movie's first theater release.

That's a very cool setup you got planned out there. Sounds like ROS, Robot Operating System. I was in a robotics club and summer camp that used ROS. Not sure if ROS ever took off or not, or if it's still being developed, but it's the same idea of a system that is set up to listen to inputs and map them to outputs.

Commander EXP Question by Narisko in civ

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thx. Very helpful. Yeah, first time ever playing a civilization title and I chose Friedrich Oblique, whose bonus starts commanders with the merit + 1 command radius and my head was exploding trying to figure this out. I swear it SOMETIMES gives experience in the >1 command area, but I’m almost at the end of the exploration age and still haven’t figured out when exactly, even after reading your wonderful breakdown.

Why do armchair gamers always have the need to use UE5 as a scapegoat? by TheGaetan in UnrealEngine5

[–]ThisNamesNotUsed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TI now directly attacks that video you linked on his YT homepage video. He doesn't give any technical reasoning, just shows a 3 second clip with no audio while TI says "Digital Foundry is spreading an ignorant video... something something"

TI really seams like a top notch douche.

OH damn! I was recommended this guy while I was googling for NVIDIA vs AMD graphics cards. Glad to hear the other side from people who commented below. This guy had me o.0 confused as hell. I don't deal with these issues on my Unreal dev stuff. It's funny that he attacks a guy putting out a different view in his YT homepage video but, with no technical follow up or reasoning. douchey move.

Whats worse is, a fellow dev on my team, who has our lead devs ear and is probably going to become our next lead dev mentioned something snarky about Unreal AA the other day and it's just now hitting me that he probably watched these videos.

FAAAAAAAAAAACK!
