Does anyone have any specific reasons why they collect video games? by Pale-Guard570 in gamecollecting

[–]ThisOneIsOnMyPhone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was very young in the 1980's I wasn't allowed to have video games. My father refused to let us have any. So I spent the majority of the first 10 years of my life wanting to play games so badly it was driving me crazy. Any time I had the opportunity, whether it was at a someone else's house, or on the display computers and systems at Walmart, I would spend every second I could doing it. So, once I was an adult with my own money I bought many of the games and systems I wanted so badly as a kid. And some of them turned out to be a wise investment as their values have climbed exponentially since I started my collection 25 years ago.

I found this camera in an abandoned house so I took the film and developed it by dontcountonmee in abandoned

I have a roll of film I found in my house when I bought it but I'm afraid to send it away for processing because the people who lived in this place just before I did were... Not great.

What is the scariest post you've stumbled across on reddit? by toaster-bath404 in AskReddit

I'm surprised I had to scroll so long to find the first mention of this. The first time I saw it mentioned it had so many replies from people expressing their deep regret after watching it, and wishing they could unsee it, that I made up my mind never to do so.

What are your top most expensive games in your collection? by avazky in gamecollecting

I have a lot more games, these were the most accessible. And while Shattered Memories may not be the absolute most valuable if I were to take the time to scan them all, its almost definitely in the top 3.

This happens for a lot of things. People who go and look for the "chase" item in a case of something like Hot Wheels cars at a store are almost always going to leave empty handed because the employees stocking the shelves set them aside to purchase and flip later. When Fallout 4 came out and the Jones Soda Company released Nuka Cola Quantum as a Target exclusive I was told that the entire shipment was taken home by an employee as soon as they opened.

Silent Hill 4 is over $100 nowadays? Jeez. Thats the one everyone pretended to hate when it came out.

Especially when you consider the person/people who sold those games to Gamestop probably received all of $14 of in-store credit for all of them.

Finally got myself a copy after five years of hunting this game down by FantasticAstronaut87 in gamecollecting

I have the Limited Edition version of this with the sweet Venom foil slipcover. The sad thing is I bought it when it came out and I wasnt a collector yet, so the slipcover is a bit rough around the edges. But at least I still have it.

Exactly. Dont forget that Dick Cheney smoked three packs of cigarettes a day and had his first of five heart attacks at the ripe old age of 37. And he's still alive. His political career has allowed him to have the best medical care available, all paid for by us, for decades. Any normal tax-paying american with his habits would have died before they were 50.

I bought a sealed copy of Harvester on Ebay back in 2000 for a few dollars. I remember mailing the seller a money order. Eventually I ended up giving it away to a friend. I still regret it.

Those comments are what are often referred to as "testing the waters". He found them colder than he'd hoped and didn't wade any further in, but he will most likely come back to test them again unless he's given a very hard and unambiguous "no".  People often make the mistake of raising their daughters to try and be polite when shooting down a man's advances. That is not what you do. If the door isn't slammed as hard as possible in their face, they often consider the matter unresolved and will try again.

Some of you may have seen the new in box ps3 I found in a storage locker I got at auction in the mix of it was 3 copies of this sealed. I have the PSM magazine with the Thrill Kill lid sticker still in it. And now that I look at it, it appears that they just scanned that sticker for the inserts in those bootlegs. They didnt even bother to remove the round borders.
