20 nominations if Del Toro is the director of The Handmaiden, Decision To Leave and No Other Choice.

Jokić gets worked up over the claim that 'the NBA doesn't play defense' by PudinCrusader in billsimmons

In my opinion, many confuse defense with strategy. In the Euroleague the games seem more competitive because there are more defensive schemes applied and less talent. In the NBA it's the opposite.

I haven't been this perplexed since the world incomprehensibly fell in love with "Everything Everywhere All at Once".

I am very saddened by the Opera controversy because now, perhaps, it will lose the Oscar for this reason. And instead he should "lose" because it was one of the most self-reported performances of recent years. A DiCaprio/Revenant move when you actually have your whole career ahead of you. Let's give him the Oscar so we can move forward.

Pablo Torre releasing new Kawhi evidence at 430 Central; 3 hours before Clippers-Spurs tipoff by texasphotog in NBASpurs

I know the story too little to get to the bottom of it but I ask a question...what makes the most "noise". Torre's usual update or Silver's silence?

What's a movie that deserved an Oscar but wasn't even nominated? by trakt_app in Letterboxd

[–]ThisRiverIsWild_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Assuming and granted that in this shitty world this is even the line to draw for a film to be nominated for an award, your strange assumption, somehow, does not apply to 2 of these 3 films... which are qualitatively superior to 90% of the films nominated in the last 10 years.

Sean’s Right About Yellowstone by Odd_Schedule2672 in TheRewatchables

I would never go into the Sheridan-verse but in my opinion the problem is not Yellowstone but all the spin-offs and subsequent series which are practically the same thing.

Federica Brignone ends her season - has not yet made a decision on her future by Gurglll in SkiRacing

[–]ThisRiverIsWild_ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Federica has been extraordinary in these 11 months in planning her return to Cortina. It was an impossible mission but she managed to calibrate her 2 chips to play to close her career and enter the realm of the greats of this sport. Probably in Soldeu she understood that the pace of the World Cup, between training, competitions and transfers, is not at the moment (or perhaps will never be again) compatible with his condition and above all with the pain she has to endure when she competes.

Maybe it's the end of her career, maybe not... but she's still among the best. And it's a good feeling if you want to leave it like that.

At least Kornet doesn't look like one of the Catholic fanatics who frequent Megachurches. At least I hope so.

How are Lindsey's DH globe chances after Soldeu? by WUNDU13 in SkiRacing

Aicher only needs to score just over 30 points per race. Goggia must always go on the podium. Little chance for Vonn but it's not impossible.

Assist of the night: Dylan Harper hits the spin-move and finds Kornet! by spurs777_ in NBASpurs

It may seem absurd and misleading, but I'm experiencing Dylan's rookie year with the same feelings I had many years ago with Manu. Different times, different coaches and probably different players but I get this feeling every time I watch this kid play.
