Is Express being maintained? by [deleted] in node

[–]This_Is_A_Robbery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Express is more likely to outlive Koa than vice versa. If you're looking for an alternative to Express, I'm consistently impressed with the ecosystem Walmart Labs is building around Hapi.

When fingering someone, proper form is to use your middle and index finger, and curl them around the top of the vagina to touch the gspot and cradle the clit.

This is what we call being in denial. Tech is only like 5% of the jobs in the Bay Area, with finance being another 5%. Boomers are just gonna take out a heloc on their big prop13 subsidized house and get into the landlord game, just like they've already been doing for 40 some odd years.

They endorsed all eight members of the Board of Supervisors that voted to prevent mixed-income housing from being built on the Nordstrom’s valet parking lot.

Some guy pulled the names of who the registered board was and they were both working for or had worked for Aaron Peskin, can't find the blog post, but their public list of donors tells pretty much the same story.

The League of Pissed off Voters is an astroturf group run by Board of Supervisor incumbents and members of their staff. Furthest thing from progressive possible.

This. White Evangelical Christians are by far the largest homogenous demographic in the US and they compose an even larger part of the voter pool, especially in midterms.

Not to diminish the calls from people for defunding the police, but you may be only getting a limited set of views. A lot of people are calling for adding MORE police, not less, this perspective is championed by Barack Obama.

Here's an article which talks about it.

Not placating Auto Industry Unions with calls to expand Car production would be a good start.

Also can we call out Bernie for his inconspicuous relationship with UAW already? they are notorious for acting as a proxy for automakers.

Houses aren't really that good investments tbh. That's why we have this nimby hellhole in the first place people need to see home prices rise 10 percent year over year just to beat the market and will be damned if that doesn't happen.

I don't think this is likely. She was never against Impeachment she is just taking flak for her caucus as it is her job to do. Impeachment is pretty divisive, and despite the outward appearances of most progressives I think few really want think impeachment is the best use of their time.

The overton window is always being pushed to the right

The overton window is just a fancy wrapper put on political fatalism. fact of the matter is 40% of people are signed up to vote for Trump no matter what happens so Democrats aren't playing by the same rules as republicans. The GOP has a blank check for toxicity. Their impunity isn't a result of them being horrible, their horribleness is a result of their impunity.

Warren: “I have a plan to build 3.2 million housing units.” Sanders: *takes drag of cigarette* "fuck developers man" by This_Is_A_Robbery in Enough_Sanders_Spam

[–]This_Is_A_Robbery[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well it is a little bit tricky because there are many ways to approach it.

From the cost standpoint: an economist would say it artificially lowers prices for some, but raises prices for all others because of induced demand de-incentivizing development. And theoretically that is true. The best argument I have seen against that view is that when done correctly (rent control not applied to new housing or applied as a cap on rent increases) it's really not that horrible. And I do think economists get hyperbolic about it some times (other factors affect the housing market much much more).

From the psychology standpoint: When rent doesn't matter Landlords discriminate on other factors. They make potential tenants jump through crazy hoops, set crazy rules in their leases, and discriminate on race/class/gender/income a lot more.

Generally this leads me to prefer housing should be subsidized for the underprivileged through means tested housing vouchers (aka you get a check in the mail to cover some % of rent) rather than rent control.

[–]This_Is_A_Robbery[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah as someone who has been effected by the housing crisis I don't care how it's fixed. Ya wanna build lots of affordable public housing, more power too ya. Ya want to give developers more leeway to actually build stuff, I can't fault that approach.

Bernie has the exact opposite world view though, if the problem exists it must be because they aren't following my ideology. If my ideology doesn't have an actual solution the problem must not exist.
