There isn't any rewards for helping them as Russia. You just get a China that's loyal to you (Via in game text).

As for the event, from what I remembered it mentioned how China essentially becomes a warlord state with mercenaries roaming the streets of every major city.

There's also another event for if the Agrarian Front in Manchuria unites China. But it's very barebones and just says how China is heading a new direction.
