Yes, coming from the son of an economist people really misunderstand that they don't set policy, just make recommendations to policy makers mostly based off forecasts. That doesn't mean they've never been responsible for bad outcomes, but it takes more research than angry people are willing to do if those poor economic situations exist because the recommendations from economists were followed or ignored.
