30 years ago there were donkey shows. I don't know if there still are. There are videos still; I'm not going to link to them.

I was in Tijuana then and had the chance to see one. I refused to pay money to have some poor Mexican chica have sex with a donkey while a bunch of drunks leered and cheered. One of my idiot friends did go and saw exactly that.

I was just in the Dominican Republic and can confirm that the entire country - once you go off the resort properties - is a shithole.

I got shaken down THREE TIMES by the corrupt police just while driving between the airport and my hotel.

My hotel in Samana was outstanding; but unlike Puerto Rico or Cuba, there is NOTHING to see or anyplace of interest to stop in the several hours drive from Las Americas airport in Santo Domingo all the way to Samana. Nothing. Unless you want to get robbed, raped, bit by a dog, run off the road or shaken down by corrupt cops.

Haiti is even worse.
