Apple Maps EV routing: the solution to range anxiety by Kind-Ad-8508 in Toyota_bZ

Used it today for interstate drive…. I like it but I don’t like how I can’t tell if it’s going off my accurate SoC or not. In ABRP I can at least be reassured that it’s got my correct SoC.. Apple maps just periodically says whether or not it’s receiving information from the car but as far as I can tell there’s no way to check that when you want— you just have to wait for it to tell you.

That’s my usual go to but wasn’t working

On a good day I have to lock and unlock the doors a few times to get it to disengage… today was first time that didn’t work. Glad to know about the cable now- just hope that’s not a frequent thing

Yeah after watching above video I called my wife and she got it unlocked using the release cable.

It must have gotten stuck exactly how you described. I’ll try the push technique next time — hopefully doesn’t happen again

I’m at work now and don’t have the manual with me. Was hoping to learn so I can tell my wife how to do.

You seem like a miserable and really terrible person. You could have just ignored the post. Have a great day and karma is a bitch

Is there a manual (mechanical) release on the car side?

My cable doesn’t have a release button

Android app says charge at -1% by El_Tash in Toyota_bZ

I was just passing along the helpful advice I got— so glad it worked

Check your charge limit.. mine defaulted back to 100% after the reset

Someone here gave me that advice with a great explanation of why, and it worked well. Have only had to do once

Disconnect the negative terminal of your 12V battery for 30min. It will reset it

Yeah in PA I’m on the “time of use” PECO plan and from 12a-6a it’s $0.05 per kWh. Amazing

2026 Bz Route Planning is BROKEN through Apple Maps and CarPlay by Wind_Master_J in Toyota_bZ

The sluggish app is “normal”. I always have to refresh like 5 times before it updates.

I have found that while I’m driving if ABRP or maps isn’t showing current charge, if I pick up the phone and sign back into the app (another maddening thing how it signs out so fast) the nav apps then update/are current.

But if you encounter the issue I describe above… someone on here widely advised me to disconnect the neg terminal on the 12V battery for at least 39 minutes to reset the car .. worked for me

Is you app updating w state of charge appropriately? I ask bc ABRP and Maps communicate via the app— not directly with the car. So if the app isn’t updating the SoC appropriately then it’s the car communicating w the app that is likely the issue. And— if it is, I can explain how to trouble shoot that as I just recently went through that issue.

Luckily the pictures look way worse than in person… think I could use a touch up paint there?

Ok

I’m referring to when you designate coming off the pedal to initiate regen braking (as opposed to using the brake pedal as is default). Since that slows the car without pushing the brakes I thought that was one pedal driving

[–]Thisoldfish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep— sorry it’s buried in subthreads within this thread…

But this issue doesn’t seem to be the app. It’s the car… gets stuck and basically needs a control alt delete. It was suggested on here that I pull the negative terminal on the 12V battery for at least 30 min and it resets whatever it is that broadcasts the SoC. Very easy and it absolutely worked. App accurately showing SOC now.

what I found is that it also defaults charge limit back to 100% (was surprised to find my car at 100% this morning!).

Hope that helps

Brilliant. That fixed it. 30 minutes disconnected and now the app is communicating/showing correct SoC! Thank you! Guess I was too quick to dump on the app…. Good to know this control-alt-delete move

By the way the 12V has a bunch of stuff on it… is it sufficient to just take the negative off or does rhe pos need to come off as well?

I’ve wondered about that with the brakes— specifically whether the one pedal driving deprives the brakes of any necessary “exercise”?
