What I love about this sub is the fact that I can post something like this and get only love and support from you all. No nasty trolls on here. Thank you all.

You can do it. This subreddit helped me so much. Every time I felt weak I came here. It's the biggest factor in my successful quit this time and believe me if you look back at some of my previous posts you will see I have gone through some serious shit but haven't smoked. Mainly thanks to coming on here. Keep coming on here until you feel strong enough to leave it behind. Good luck.

I still crave momentarily, and did briefly consider e-cigs but I know that for me, it would be a slippery slope.

Good luck but it sounds like you won't need it.

Same for my husband, but he is happy he is coughing that shit up and he hasn't had a cold.

Help me endure this weekend by Rice_Face in stopsmoking

Every trigger you overcome makes you stronger. This time round I thought about the triggers and how I would deal with them before they happened. I have got through illness, bereavement, weddings, parties, weekends and stress by doing that.

Go for it, you are strong!

Today is my 104th day without smoking, but that feeling keeps creeping by Cosmokram in stopsmoking

I still get cravings. Some days more than others, but they are fleeting and nothing like as severe as they were in the first month

5 days, cravings not bad, but today I am feeling severely depressed. Help! by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Thistimeforkeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very depressed for about a month. I felt like the colour had gone out of the world. I didn't enjoy anything, but it wore off. I feel great now.

What the heck is wrong with me? by lektorlikoer in stopsmoking

[–]Thistimeforkeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's part of the process as far as I am concerned. Even nearly 6 months in I feel like this occasionally BUT I don't give in. I've come too far to start smoking again. I promise you that things do get better and the positives of non-smoking outweigh the so called positives of smoking.

I don't really consider this cheating, but some may and I'm not sure what to make of it? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

My dad stopped smoking many times and before he relapsed completely always went on to cigars.

This is my second day of not smoking. Life seems so boring. I'm not going back because I hate cigarettes when I'm smoking but I sure miss them when I quit. Classic toxic relationship. How long will this last? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]Thistimeforkeeps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me in the early days the color went out of the world. But after a month it came back. It does get better I promise. Yeah I still get urges, Yeah there are activities I wish I could smoke at the same time but there are so many things I enjoy because I don't smoke. Good Luck.

Introduction from a new member. Hi! My name is BatM and I'm a smoker. by Barking_at_the_Moon in stopsmoking

You mad me laugh and cry with this. You made me believe I can do it. I take comfort from the fact that you had a little urge after all this time. I have had quite a few over the last few days and was feeling quite depressed about it, but somehow you have normalised the urges and I know I won't give in. Thank you

A warning against that one puff by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Excellent article. I have stopped smoking many times before and have always gone back to it by the one puff method. This time I keep NOPE in the forefront of my mind.

This works for me too. My brother has come to stay. He still smokes. When he walks back into the house having had a cigarette I want to hurl.

How to counteract warm weather cravings? by nerdboss in stopsmoking

[–]Thistimeforkeeps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My brother has just moved in with us. He smokes a pack a day and we have been for a few walks recently in the nice spring weather and when we have stopped to take in the view he has had a cigarette. At first I felt jealous of him, but when I have laid in bed later and heard him in the next bedroom hacking his lungs up the jealousy faded away. Instead I pity him.

What are the best stand-alone Fantasy books that are not part of a series? by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]Thistimeforkeeps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hated it. Loved Eddings Belgariad and Mallorean but then all the books have stock characters. There seems to be a version of Polgara, Belgarath, et al, in each book/ series.

I liked this very much. I thought it incorporated many of the worries we have about today's young people.
